I tried loading Shiny Codsworth since this new update and all I've come across is loading problems with the game, once I remove it, I can load the game just fine otherwise it locks up until I close it.
I am postponing performing the update on my machine at least until F4SE is ready (because I use other mods that require F4SE), so I was unaware it would affect this mod. I have stickied your post so that others will be aware of the problem.
In the meantime, other modders are welcome to try their hand at fixing this mod to work with the updated FO4 (I checked the description, and I had already set permissions to allow that)
Okay, I finally did the update for myself, and this mod seems to work for me with no changes needed (either by starting a new game with it included, or by loading a vanilla pre-update save with it added). Could you please clarify the circumstances leading up to your loading problems? E.g., did you use an existing game (possibly with other mods) from before the update and add this mod, or did you start a new game after running the update?
Thanks for the mod. I like the clean textures. I just have one question: how can I make this mod load with yours? It is just textures, no plugin, but it just doesn't works.
Just glancing at the files so far, I'm guessing you can edit HandyTorsoShiny.BGSM and specify "Actors/Handy/HandyTorsoClean_g.dds" for the "Glow" material. I'll try to investigate further within the next few days and put up either a patch file or a new version of my mod (depending on how FO4 handles a bgsm file that specifies a non-existent Glow material file).
Edit: I tried this myself, and also ticked the "Glowmap" checkbox in HandyTorsoShiny.BGSM, but it still didn't work, and I haven't figured out why.
i seen on fandom.com that there was a glitch that turned codsworth gold. do you know anything about this and could you maybe in your freetime look to see if that option can be made permanently?
I'm fairly sure it only affects Codsworth, and if you've modified him in the robot workbench to use other paint, changing him to use "no paint" (and factory Mr. Handy armor pieces) should work, though I haven't specifically tested that.
Update: I just tested, and it seems like with this installed, paints from Automatron don't work on Codsworth's standard Mr. Handy pieces - I expected their material swaps to take precedence, but apparently I was wrong. I may need some time to think about how to fix this.
I fixed it with the latest version (and optional file). There is now a "Mr. Handy Polish" in the paint section of the Robot Workbench, which Codsworth will default to when you first put him in the robot workbench. If you've applied other paint to him before installing this mod, you can still switch to the polish.
hm.. have you experimented with codsworth's shininess and automatron robot paints? they also look very rusty, and i would like the vanilla paint to refurbish, not accent the rust :b
Like I said in the description, if you want shiny automatron robots, there are other mods for that - you might try "Automatron Clean Paint". Codsworth has nice pre-war textures in the default game files, but other robots do not - I got the impression the author of that mod had to heavily modify the textures by hand to get them to look that good.
You know, I was just thinking about a mod like this when I came across this page. I was sorta disappointed that cleaning up Codsworth on the Robot Workbench disabled the ability to add a hat to him, so this mod is appreciated!

Yup and it's open source modder utility.
