About this mod

Makes it so Codsworth is still shiny (though not quite factory-fresh) when meeting him post-war.

"What with all my self maintenance, rust will never touch me." -Codsworth

With default textures, Codsworth looks like he has a lot of rust, so this statement could be chalked up to self-delusion.  Alternatively, you can install this mod, and he'll still be shiny.

Inspiration
I saw the comments on the "Pre-War Codsworth" mod complaining about how the reflections looked like the sole survivor's pre-war house interior, and giving Codsworth a bowler hat caused the top of his head to revert, and found a way to fix those without directly pulling any content from that mod.

Installation/Uninstallation
Using a mod manager, such as Vortex or MO2, is recommended.  The main plugin file is an ESL-flagged ESP, and there are a few loose BGSM files, so manual installation is also possible.  The changes are almost entirely cosmetic, so installing mid-playthrough should work fine (I am not so sure about uninstalling mid-playthrough).

The Bowler Hat
With version 1.00 at least, Codsworth will only be able to wear the regular bowler hat, not the "Triggerman Bowler".

Compatibility
This will conflict with mods that change records Codsworth "Codsworth" [NPC_:000179FF] or ClothesBowlerHat "Bowler Hat" [ARMO:000FC104], though it should be possible to use Mator Smash to make a patch, or you can make one manually with FO4Edit.

Automatron
The DLC is not strictly required, but this mod should not break compatibilty with it - I tested it myself, and it was still possible to put Codsworth in the robot workbench (which removed his bowler hat).  Only "factory" Mr. Handy parts on Codsworth will be shiny due to this mod.  If you add other robot parts via the workbench, they will use the standard Automatron textures.  If you want those to be shiny as well (or new automatron robots to be shiny), I think there are other mods on the Nexus that do that already.
Update: I discovered that Automatron paints were not working for the factory Mr. Handy parts on Codsworth, so now there is an optional file that improves compatibility with Automatron - Codsworth can be painted while still a Mr. Handy, and changed back to shiny form with "Mr. Handy Polish" in the paint section of the Robot Workbench.  The "Mr. Handy Polish" is also available for other robots, but will only apply to Mr. Handy factory parts.  (I might be able to restrict it to Codsworth, but I don't think that's worth the potential problems)  The "no paint" option will make him rusty-looking.

Horizon
There is now a patch file available for Horizon, which keeps the changes Horizon made to Codsworth and the Bowler Hat, and just adds the necessary changes to support this mod.  Follow the standard load order guidelines for Horizon mod patches.

Technical (i.e. how it works)
I copied out the material files used for Codsworth's pre-war incarnation and changed the cubemaps to use chrome_e.dds instead of mipblur_CGPlayerHouseCube.dds, made a material swap record for Codsworth to use, added a custom race for Codsworth, added an armor addon record for the bowler hat with the material swap (using the custom race, so other Mr. Handys wouldn't be affected).  There is also an "Unknown" subrecord for Codsworth in the AI Data section that DLCRobot.esm changes from 00 00 00 00 to 00 D4 3D 1D, and this mod keeps the latter value - I am hoping this is just unused when Automatron is not installed, but I haven't actually tested this.

Consoles
I don't have a console version of the game to test with, but others are welcome to port the mod (if any porting is required - for all I know, the mod might work on console as-is, and only need to be posted on Bethesda.net or something).  I think I read that Sony forbids external assets for mods on the PS4 version, so this mod would probably be disqualified there.
