I like the update to the original but, at least on my end, with yours and the original patch the human meat doesn't satisfy any hunger in survival if using the no dark cravings version of the Human Cooking mod.

    EDIT:
Opened up your mod, this can be fixed/a version for people playing without dark craving can be made by re-adding the keyword ObjectTypeFood to the human cooking mod's meals.

Is there some sort of a secret piece of black magic to get a mod to overwrite human cooking? Been trying to make my own patch but it simply does not load in.

Depending on what mod manager you use, when you create a new .esp, it isn't automatically enabled even if it's placed in the data / overwrite folder. Just make sure its activated in your mod manager's plug-ins section. Also, make sure it's placed after Human Cooking in the load order.

I've been working on this edit too, re-adding the ObjectTypeFood keyword to the meals and also adding the cooking cost of 1 wood to match FROST's current balance.
Now that I've done that I notice that the sanity decrease isn't working, displaying as 'SAN 0' for both raw and cooked ingestibles, and I guess it's because my character is hungry so the added benefits (and consequences) of food aren't received unless you eat them while already full.

That's not too bad of a problem because it makes a bit of sense that a person would lose sanity from eating that stuff when they're not hungry, but can look past it when starving. Eating out of necessity is okay but snacking on it leads to insanity.

In FROST the other normal food items bestow their bonuses/debuffs regardless of hunger level so it should be possible, but I don't understand the workaround.

I did notice that the meal 'Human Meat Soup' is the only one that grants its bonuses and sanity loss no matter what level of hunger the player is at, but again, I'm comparing it to the other meals in FO4Edit and I can't see why it's the only one that seems to be exempt. It's the only one working like FROST's other food items, but why?
