I am having the same issue, as when I try to get her to leave power armor it looks like a blank conversation occurs and then she does not exit the power armor
Just once I'd like to see a custom companion that doesn't suffer from the brown face bug. And no, I do not have the HD DLC installed so suggesting the "fix mod" won't help.
Every instance I've seen in a custom companion is caused by using a 512 specular on the face while using a 1k or greater specular on everything else. If you put an SD face on an HD body you get the bug.
I fixed Companion Charlotte, which was doing exactly the same thing, by stripping out the custom race and defaulting her back to human and standard skins (my installed HD skin textures). A shame I have to do it again for Kimiko. At least there's no custom race here so it should be a bit easier.
Please, when you get around to updating this mod, make the textures match. All SD or all HD, pick one and stick with it.
I used the CK to change their race to human (should be doable in FO4Edit). That makes them default back to whatever body shape and skin you have installed, and you can use LooksMenu to redo their appearance and make them look at least close to the original author's intent. I also fixed Charlotte's height in the CK to 0.9 to keep her short.
I remember there is a voice pack for companion that modders used. I saw it and you can give different voices to companions. But I don't know where it is. Maybe it can help you? Maybe this one, I don't know, I'm not a modder... http://www.modsfallout4.com/category/audio-voice/page/2/
AFT (Amazing Follower Tweaks) shows her set for unlimited ammo. AFT allows for us to change that, and there are other mods here on Nexus (Companions use ammo)? I think is one of them. Should you want her have that type of immersion.
Thanks for your reply. The description of AFT reads, I don't assume that 'turn off ammo depletion' implies the contrary; turning on ammo depletion for those who come without it. Have you used it and know differently? Also, the mod NPCs Use Ammo tends to affect settles, turrets, robots, etc as well as companions.
I am not a modder and never realized that ammo consumption was such a hard feature to implement. Heather (optional), Darlene (optional), Dayna (FCR), Peter (FCR), Logan Verner (Vault 4), Kit (The Machine and Her), Kai (Chaotic Sun), Ellen the Cartographer, Skarlet (I believe), Ivy and Eli (Old Time Religion) all consume ammo. To my mind, resource management is such an integral part of the game that it would be a nice feature to have, even if optional. Sigh.

I like this companion but listening to the annoying comments of Piper..... It's a turn off.... Is there a way to change that?

I uploaded a couple pics (Gave her some GTR armor). We'll see if BlueLight approves them. LOL
