Lots of things about the container/locks/etc don't make sense. Bethesda has made gamers quite lazy.  I used a mod like yours for Skyrim too. Thankyou for making this.

I already have the voice removed (Silent protagonist), so I hope that doesn't conflict with that.

      It might.

I changed the conditions on 6 dialogues (might be a conflict) and the shared dialogue for 6 others (shouldn't conflict). Not knowing how they modified things to make the protagonist silent a patch might be necessary. Though, thinking about it, the dialogues I patched are all self-addressed, so you might just want my mod before that mod so Silent Protagonist gets the final say.

TL;DR: Take a look in xEdit and see if there's a problem

The string changes should have no conflict.

Sorry for very late response. Didn't know you'd replied.
It works fine, voice isn't messed up since my character has no voice. Been using years now I don't even notice it now. I'm just like, "Oh I can't get in- it must be too hard! Guess I gotta put up my skill in this."

So simple and most people have no idea how the mind simple adapts to it an moves on. A pity this mod is so criminally under-Endorsed.
      Anyway, Thanks again.

Something that would be cool is having the difficulty text change to only appear depending on your PER score and Lockpicking rank.

That would indeed be cool (and fitting/immersive) - but not something that could be done with just a plugin (that I'm aware of).

Would probably need to do that with Papyrus, which yeah, I could probably figure out, but it's not something I'm willing to work on at the moment (especially since I've no interest in playing FO4 right now).

Feel free to use this as a baseline if you want to make that happen!

This is a nice idea and a great addition in terms of immersion. The more I can set my F4 to a realistic level, the more I'm satisfied. About the idea behind this mod, I'm aware there are conflicting opinions. I'm of this idea: ordinary people don't know about unlocking locked doors or terminals. Anyway, it also depends on which type of character you are going to play. For instance, if your character is an ex-military, then this mod is not for you. Another thing, it's true this is also a hobby and that an ordinary person could have this knowledge but, this is uncommon.

Don't over-think it. The reasons are all commonsense. Been using a similar mod for Skyrim too. People don't realise how immersive it is cos they get LAZY.  My game is so clean and realistic that the whiners would probably have a heart attack. I just endorse good modders who make this to encourage their good work.

To much realism kills a good game.

You are 100% entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.

Such comments kill me. If i want a Fun-game, i get all the Fun-Mods here i want. If i want a "Realism-Game", i modify my game so i want. Thats what i like about mods, i have the choose to modify the game in my opinion.

Why is this comment here spouting common RPG sense?
Surely those who bother to download tweaks for immersion know the balance that lets one invest in the mode of play most effectively.

      Translation:
"I don't like it,  and none of you should like it either because me!"

I will point out that if you happen to be passingly familiar with locksmithing, you can at least vaguely recognize if a lock is one you don't know the mechanism for IRL. And given that your character can pick up lock picking almost right off the bat, it seems fair that they might be passingly familiar with the hobby. Especially since lockpicking is apparently a common enough hobby that there's a subscription magazine related to it.

Though, if you want to remove the thing, I'm not gonna stop you - just wanted to point out the misconception that you can't tell at least roughly how difficult a lock is to pick at a glance, or be able to tell if a door has a visible electronic locking mechanism holding it shut (especially since the security system referenced is a magnetic lock system, which means there'd be magnetic contact points along the frame and the edge of the door)

      Absolutely agree.

This was more my choice as I've made my characters less of a super-human (read: more/very dumb) as I've continued playing. Still kind of difficult to keep that up with every other system at play in FO4, but this at least makes it so I can't just, at level 1, know immediately with a glance that this lock/computer is X diffiicult to unlock. Or that, "Hey, this door/container is locked, and the only way to unlock it is by finding a linked terminal." (specifically thinking of the overseer door in Vault 111, just after you wake up).

It's that kinda thing that just kills my immersion a little more.

If there was also a way I could make Fallout less of an, "I, as soon as I pick up any gun, know immediately how it works, when it's out of ammo/how to reload, can magic up advanced modifications like a professionally built scope/stock/other attachment, etc.", I definitely would change that too. Unfortunately the game is just not built for that, and it would be a massive undertaking to do. So, for now, it's little things like this that help me stay at least somewhat grounded.

FWIW I also think the whole concept that you can't even try to unlock very difficult things is kinda whack, but then you run into the Skyrim problem, where you can pick any lock, thus making lockpick perks mostly worthless (without perk overhauls).

No, because I'm a telepath who's acquired the ability through the glory of Atom. Mundanes cannot possibly understand what we can perceive that they cannot.

This is actually quite fun, sounds like adds a nice challenge to not knowing how to approach a lock/system until you actually try it out, not unlike real lockpicking!

Clever mod and you're right..it makes absolutely no sense.

    Thanks!
