Inspired by this mod i made a workaround to force the script (dialogue) to hit stage 20 once PC is getting close to the Gate - thus the gate opens almost automatically. If your curious give it a go.
oh i see, i thought this was going to take away the load door like the skyrim mod open cities, but i get the feeling that would be too hard in the down town Boston area.
unless a significant portion of the buildings in that area were cleaned up a bit to make the area less lag issues.
i wonder if bethesda can figure out how to make their cities work like the cyberpunk night city, where it works but is mostly open and still good fps, although that game can still be quite heavy in some areas, but it's mostly stable.
yeah its because of the "delete" flag. if you replace it with "initial disabled" its far more stable and may apply mid-game already (worked sometimes on my end, new game is save of course). xEdit had some weird overwriting (internal) when using the "delete" tag, so watch out, your game can crash if its not applied correctly otherwise this technique (mod) works perfectly save.
I don't mind Piper, but I do hate how interacting with her forces that damn interview sidequest on the player. Then you have those two idiots next to Nick's office talking about the Railroad, which immediately forces yet another unwanted quest into your damn Pipboy with no way to avoid it. It's just imposible in this game to keep a tiddy questlog because of stupid situations like these.
There's a mod that contains bat files to complete all of the PITA side quests like you are talking about. I've had it for years. Unfortunately I can't remember the name. I tried to find it again for you, but have hit a dead end. Not using the correct wording, or some such. Sorry. Maybe you'll have better luck.
I don't mind Piper, and killing her is "Not the Way". But I really hate Bethesda's stupid soap opera area entries Farharber, Goodneighbor, and DC. After the 100th or so new toon, it wears.
You can also make her hostile with a (modded) Berserk Syringe or a weapon that has the Enraging effect; the guards will take her down and the gate will magically open. However, this basically changes nothing, you will still get the interview quest once you enter the city, and Danny will talk to you as if he was fooled by Piper. The mod didn't actually work for me because it conflicts with the Diamond City Enhanced Security mod.
Nice Idea, however it doesn't work for me. When I tested it the only other mod I had installed was NacX. It's a shame really, I have had enough of Piper.
If you have "Locksmith - Lock Your Doors 'n' Containers" you can just walk up to the gate and unlock/open it. You could try that one since this one isn't working for you.
Just shoot her in the head from a good distance and remain hidden. If you down her in one, she'll fall, the gate will open, and no-one will be hostile. I always do this, myself.

So I installed locksmith, then just unlocked the gate.
