This mod has greatly improved my game's performance and fixed the random freezing issue I'd been having since NG released, Thank you so very much boring3 for this mod
I would like to report what happened on my computer, and see if anyone has any idea what's going on. Game runs on 5700X and 5700XT, I have fps cap unlocked.
So without this mod, my average fps is around 75~80.
With this mod activated, sometimes after game start, menu highlight bar moves too fast to be controlled by keyboard, and the loading circle animation loop (at screen's bottom right) runs significantly faster than vanilla, so does loading speed. Then I get to enjoy a perfect 150FPS (in a subzone), or 100FPS (on the big map) for about 30 seconds, during which is very smooth and satisfying, but within a minute the fps will drop down, back to 75~80, which is almost the same as when without this mod. And then nothing happens, no fps boost, no loading speed boost, no nothing, untill several launches later, all above happens again.
This is very strange and misterious to me, I wonder if there's anyway to maintain 150 or 120FPS, I think my pc can handle that but it could take hours to figure out.
This mod doesn't appear to do anything that influences the game in the ways you're describing. Are you using the high fps physics fix? This mod shouldn't be increasing fps during load screens or boosting fps in general
I'm so sorry but it turns out to be some silly mistakes, with corrected settings now the game runs stable 70-90fps lockpicking and loading screen still have 165fps which shouldn't be a problem, and everything else is fine. Endrosed and appreciated!
good to hear that, I'm trying this mod and so far it's been really nice and was worried it could cause problems. Still, I've heard you should cap your fps, have you had any issues with that so far?
As long as the game runs stably and you don't run into any problem cause by high fps i suggest you leave it be and enjoy the game. However, if your fps is too high (way over 90), then the extra fps is almost useless and wasts performance, while you can use this part of performance resource of your PC to accelerate loading time, reduce stuttering and run a smoother script (activation\loading\spawning\quest progressing .etc)
I recently found out about how further ahead you can go and how complicated it can be to optimize and even re-orgnize this game and, It's kind of overwelming for me to follow all the steps and tweaking all the .ini files cause every step could cause another problem. Heavenly Hell Settings at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community here's an example But with the right setting there's a huge decrease on lag and stuttering.
This mod (with high priority patch) combined with x-cell's memory manager solved all of my in game stuttering, lag spikes, and even weapon switch delays. I have a 13600k, 7900xt, gen 4 m.2 drive and 32gb of memory but this game always refused to run smoothly.
Yes, I have a huge mod collection with all the eye candy but my system has no problem with ultra modded SSE or stalker 2 at max settings. I still use buffout and a number of other performance and bug fix mods and I have messed with all sorts of setting and configs but nothing solved all of my issues.
Hi, I want to reduce stuttering, what is "x-cell's memory manager", what exactly is it called? I can see some discription about memory setting on x-cell page, but I'm still not so sure what to do. I installed X-cell and it caused ctd every 30~90 minutes, so I don't know if theres an optional standalone memory manager mod or something? would appreciate it if you can tell me. ______ update: so I realize X-cell.txt doesn't exist, I should edit x-cell.toml instead. sorry to bother you.
That's crazy. A while back i bought a new PC with a 8GB GC, 16 cores and so on. I installed the Next Gen FO4 with 4K Texture mods, Landscape, grass, Buildings, Interiors, LOD, Clothing and so on. Also all the little helpers like buffout e.g. Well, it worked nice, but i had CTD's after a few times fast travelling (especially Boston area) or running quick through different areas or going in and out a few times in the workshop mode ( i use 20+ building mods). The LOD also doesn't look as it supposed to. Another thing was, while walking or running i always had my stable 60 fps, but it felt a little bit like something holding or pulling me back a bit, plus the lags. It's hard to explain. And i was wondering, what was wrong but couldn't really figure it out. I even downgraded my texures to 2K and all that, but it didn't fixed it. I never ever had the prority setting of the game on my radar until i stumbled over this little mod. I remember back in the oldrim days was the last time i dealt with it and then i completly forgot about it.
what can i say, after installing the mod, my game works the way it is supposed to. It almost feels like something pushing me while running, almost no more lags when entering new cells and the LOD looks great. Also my loading time feels shorter. And almost no more CTD's.
Affinity change works, prioritiy change doesn't though (.163). Tried both main files with high priority. My game always starts with above normal already without me having touched that.
Please check if the high priority configuration is enabled and is overwriting the main file in the Mod manager. The original file has to be overwritten by the new configuration.
Turns out X-Cell already puts the process priority to above normal. I renamed this mod to start with a z so it loads after x-cell and now priority did in fact change to high. Might be worth to add to the description.

For now, stick to this mod I would suggest.

This mod is safe and open source.
