DPillari, you're quickly becoming my new favorite texture modder. Wow. You've got talent. Glad I returned to the game and stumbled onto your page. Thanks.
On a side note. What's the ESL for. Would it be Ok to go with the loose files if my intention is to pack all of my textures into a BA2 after I collect them all?
Edit: NVM. I was bugging out and forgot that the .esl was directing the game to load the files. Duh. I've been away from modding this game for too long...lol
of course. it matters as much as you deem it necessary to. im sure there is someone out there who says they wont take anything less then 8k. to each their own. hence the different sizes.
The bigger the size of the actual model in-game, the more texture resolution matters, because you will notice model details (or lack thereof) a lot more for big models, even more when they are constantly in your face or take a lot of space on display. Like mountains in Skyrim, for example. It's not uncommon for mountain texture mods to go as high as 8 or even 16k.
If your goal is just regular gameplay and you're not doing any screen archery whatsoever, then 1k is probably already more than enough and 2k overkill for such a small model, because you will not be able to visually see the difference in resolution during normal gameplay anyway. So you might as well not ask extra resources from your GPU by picking a higher resolution that you can't even notice.
Now arguably, given the file size itself and the fact that you mostly find those scattered around, it doesn't really matter, not on its own anyway. But you're probably using other 2k or 4k texture mods for a lot of things. Then maybe ENB presets. Then maybe Parallax mods. So it piles up eventually. And like I said, if you can't tell the difference during gameplay anyway, there's no point going for higher res, unless you're a screen archer.
mostly just a test to see if i could make a model in blender and put it into fallout 4. and also improve upon it. it was successful so now i want to make a model for skyrim special edition. another simple one to start.
