      I ended up replacing lead pipes with the hammer considering they basically spawn everywhere you'd figure a hammer would. As an added bonus, I never really cared for lead pipes to begin with.
      
      I went and renamed the claw hammer junk item to "broken hammer" to mitigate confusion and it all played out quite well
