This one was more of a patchwork approach, I didn't start off with an over vision, I just took little chunks of the area and built that and then moved on to another area... hence why the result is pretty big.
Knowing what is available in plots can help a lot... pick a few larger plots that can set the tone for an area, then build structures up around them to fit in internals or 1x1s
You said in the description that one of the power conduits which produce power it not automatically connected. Well with me it was ALL of the power conduits which produce power that were needed to manually connnect. Might wanna add that to the description? Other than that this is BESt Jamaaica plain city plan yet ! :) Thank you (I’m at full lvl btw)
I believe the power wires are done via scripts, and these are normally done right at the end of upgrades. This is about at the same time that the plots will be upgrading according to the plan. If there are a lot of scripts running then the wires seem to get skipped at times. Big settlement city plans seem to be pretty good at not completing new wiring added at level 3 of the plan - if there are other scripts running it might happen at lower levels too - such as other settlements upgrading or other mods, (I typically test with a small load order and fresh out of the vault sole survivor)
Cool new feature if you have upgraded to the latest workshop framework is the power line functions that you can access from the settlement workbench under manage.... You can now get rid of the wires, make everything self powered, or even select the re-wire option - and watch the settlement re-wire itself!
Hate to be THAT guy, but I can't find the answer (or ask the question in the right way to get the answer.) How do I use this and other plans? I installed the mod, (and other city plans) but they don't show up on the planner's desk.
The main file should be available on the city planner desk - check to see if the plugin has been enabled. The optional file should be available if you go to the Jamaica Plain workbench, mouse over it and you should see a third 'Manage' option. then you can choose which layout you want to build (the layouts do not upgrade, they are a one off thing like a transfer settlement)
Here's Kinggath's video to explain how to import layouts
If you are having issues with many/all city plans it might be good to post on the Sim Settlements 2 Forums? as it may be another mod or load order and the forums will have a lot more people that can help. (or may have. and fixed the issue).
Thanks! Cheers, If I remember I was trying to avoid the sloping support. Once in the right area people can also use Place everywhere keypad nudge functions to shift the plot - and then refresh from the menu to get the plot into a position they like.
Gav, your settlements are so very impressive. I fell in love with your Murkwater (Bosmer at heart, I think that was my initial reaction at any rate) and this one is no exception. I have a good gaming rig so I'm going to put her through her paces with your work. This is absolutely stunning. I'm also a stickler for details but sadly completely suck at implementing them in my own builds LOL. I have the imagination, but getting it from brain to keyboard/monitor doesn't always translate.
I'm blown away by the level of detail in this build, well done!
If I might ask, what was your build limit looking like at the end? I had real problems with mine; I near maxed out with very little built, yet yours completed looks about ten times greater.
I've asked this of other entries at this settlement, and I'm trying to figure out where I've gone wrong.
Feedback after last months contest was that the build limit is a guide, we can keep upping it if needed, with judges FPS experience being more of a decider.
Everything was above the starting level, even foundation level, I think around 500% for level 1, level 2 was yellow below 800% and about 900% for level 3.
I'm expecting a pretty low score for FPS friendliness. My normal FPS if things are empty and traveling about sit in the high 40s. The worst drop in the settlement I get is the low 30s FPS when standing up the top level with the buildings in the bottom foreground, and looking into the distance with the flags and trees waving. Looking down and walking around in the streets I see mid-high 30s, early 40s if it a little more clear in front.
I started without a clear plan, so had lots of ideas for different areas of the settlement, then brought them all together. Then I went, dang, that's big. But I wasn't going to remove stuff just for the sake of the competition, I just aim to create an impressive environment that players can loose themselves in, let the imagination take them away. (well I did resist adding more clutter, and little spots scatted about in forgotten corners).
Oh shoot, I completely blew it on that build limit exception... perhaps with better time management I could have actually completed my build then. Oh well, next time.

It's fits quite a bit in.
Just a quick note regarding the positioning of the interior IDEK plot on top of the shell:
I found 10657.40/-64670.58/884.17 a better fit as with these you can get to the sensor and it doesn't clip out the back.

Happy Gaming!

Best of luck for your entry!
A top contender for sure.
