Don't be alarmed with the lack of a preview on the light stock image. I got a bit too trigger happy with the images and took it before the preview loaded. I haven't broken that modification.
Thank-you! Works perfectly. It always baffled me that the weapon basically wasn't fully ugradable until I had seen nearly everything in the game.
It works great with the mod that adds a wooden stock, also without the silly extra building requirements. I just load that one first ( https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/33201 ) in my load order.
Downloaded and endorsesd! I've always hated this weapon because of the perk requirements so i'm delighted to find that someone has made a patch to make it usable for everyone.
How did you go about doing this, btw? I have the same problem with Unoctiums Hellfire X-03 Power Armor needing Intimidation, Rifleman, and Commando, but I've no idea how I'd begin to patch them out.
I don't have the Creation Kit open in front of me right now, but if memory serves, each crafting recipe has a "conditions" section where you can check for perks and such. I removed the perk checks from that section on each recipe.
The Handmade Rifle is just one of my favorite weapons and thanks to this mod it makes all my roleplay playthroughts even better, tho I will say that the 5.56 receivers should deal a bit (just a bit) less damage than the regular ones which are 7.62, is a weaker caliber after all, but outside of that 10/10! <3
Could you also reduce the level requirement for some of the mods as well. At Gun Nut 4 you really wouldn't want to use the shovel stock anyway and rather just go for the Recoil Compensating Stock. Reducing the requirement at least allows the shovel stock to be used at earlier levels.
I didn't realise the shovel stock was Gun Nut 4. Isn't that standard on most drops of the weapon? Yeah, I'll fix that for sure. Are there any other attachments you think could do with tweaking?
Just a question. Why would you want to fire 5.56 out of an AK platform? The Handmade Rifle is the only Russian based weapon in Fallout 4 by design - and it was added as a DLC. Personally, I don't play Fallout 4 - Chechnya so I try to keep the Russian weapon influence to a minimum - but the AK at least makes sense.
Well, Chinese Assault Rifle was also AK based weapon of Fallout series and it use 5.56 ammo. Handmade Rifle also use 5.56 on Fallout 76, so its not a big deal role wise. Some of modern weapon systems that also designed based AR platform that use AK ammo such as KCR-739, and also AK-101 uses 5.56 mm nato ammunition. With this all info, its make sense that Handmade Rifle uses 5.56 with this mod. Completely immersive...
I'm not really a gun expert, but I think I provided some fair reasons. Without mods, 7.62 rounds don't spawn outside of Nuka-World, where your only option for acquiring it is through barter if you don't side against the raiders and make them hostile. This makes any legendary drops for new players useless until they go to Nuka-World and buy ammo for it.
And as Hodvar said, there is a precedent set for assault rifles and their like using 5.56 ammo. In Fallout 3, the Chinese assault rifle, assault rifle, and infiltrator all use it. In New Vegas, the marksman carbine and service rifle also make use of it. Finally, in Fallout 76, the handmade rifle was altered so that it would also use 5.56 ammo instead of 7.62.

There's also the magazine. Quick eject Drum Mag is unlocked at same time as the regular drum mag.
