I'm trying to add my own combat music, so what exactly is the xwm files that have the word "final" before them. Mine doesn't have those but do I need them?

Is there any solution to this: I also put some own xwm music to data/music folder. It works and the game plays it. But the game does not play the whole song. It plays the song maybe 2 minutes and then it starts over. But this time it plays it little further. Should I say about 2,5 minutes. And then again it starts over. In third time it plays the whole song.

    What is causing this?

edit. I inspected more... its loop for 2 mins. Seems like when the song starts it plays from beggining forward to the end. After 2 minutes the song starts again, this time few seconds after the actual start. It repeats 2 times and after that the song will go to the end and the game starts another song.

Bethesda has made the songs just for 2 mins and few seconds. So battle music will last 6 min totally. I dont know. Maybe theres different rules for different songs. But this one is for boss fight music (when you encounter deathclaw or...)

So... has anyone found setting for this rule? I tried to inspect ini files but didnt found out anything.

The song which I had inspected is named "MUS_Combat_Boss_01.xwm"

Indeed quite hard to trust when there's no sample

A lot of the soundtrack seem to come from something that as far as I know, looked like a Fallout Online project, here's a playlist, should contain most if not all songs. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL53E04266AC9A6B6D

(uploader might want to use the link so that it's more convenient for the viewers.)

Interesting, but the bit about the volume inconsistency worries me.

So I looked up this Xcentric Noizz guy's music and I actually not only really liked it but found a lot of it does fit Fallout 4's setting very well. The problems with this mod however...
I don't know if you didn't buy this guy's music and just ripped it from youtube or what, but the volume levels of each song are so different that I can't balance the audio properly with the game's volume controls. Some songs are too quiet and some are way too loud.
The other problem is there is a track or two of like loud wooshing wind noises that doesn't QUITE go with the game. Xcentric Noizz has a lot of tracks that are quieter and have some light guitar and stuff that I think would go way better with Fallout 4 that you didn't even use. For example: the first song that comes up when I do a search for Xcentric Noizz is a track called Crotalinae which is AMAZING and not in your list. On top of that, maybe I didn't install it right but a lot of the tracks didn't seem to even be changed?
Lastly... get rid of the main theme change. That should be a separate mod or optional file. I went in and edited the mod myself to keep that from being changed but it's unnecessary. There are SO many main menu theme changing mods out there already.

nice mod. I have a couple questions:

does this method replace the vanilla music or add to it (playing both)?

I have experience creating my own soundtracks for skyrim, do I just need to convert any music I want to .xwm format and then name them exactly as you have for each scenario I want? (and make the music folder and ini change of course)

are there any scenarios that you didn't use in your mod, in other words are there any other FO4 music types besides combat, explore_day, explore_night, etc?

and last, what is the mus-maintheme? is that the one that plays at the startup menu screen?

thanks in advance, and for your work on customizing the FO4 soundtrack!

It's not simple, need free time, some converters, special program to watch data files.

Could you please post clips of the new music so I can see whether I like it or not?

Does this mod replace the original ambient music with some more stressful music? If so, is it possible to hear a sample of it?
