Let's face it, no matter which way you slice it, the Submachine Gun is one of the most pathetic weapons in the game. Fast fire rate does not a good weapon make, all it does it paint your weapon into a corner, making its use very niche against relatively low-health enemies, which become few and far-between late game.
I believe that if you invest in a weapon class, you should do well with every weapon in that class, and with this mod, the Submachine Gun is no longer an exception.
The way this mod works is simple, the commando perk has been modified to check if a weapon is or isn't the Submachine Gun. If it isn't, normal damage modifiers are applied. If it is, it gets a separate damage boost to compensate for its poor performance. At rank 5, the Submachine Gun (fully upgraded) does slightly less damage than a Combat Rifle (fully upgraded), but with that good ol' faster fire rate coming in to give it its own touch.
That's it, really. This mod is compatible and recommended to use with Thompson SMG replacer to make the Submachine Gun even better.
