A stand alone mod adds a Battle Rifle. Based loosely on the Combat Rifle but has many of the features of modern battle rifles

I like the combat rifle. It is my early and mid game go to. Especially as my combat style is sniper. But there are several aspects of it and most Fallout 4 weapons that has always bugged me. First, where are the selective fire weapons? Back in the 70's when I was in the army our M-16's had a selector, safe, semi and full automatic. And second we had the M-203, an M-16 with a grenade launcher under the barrel. So I decided to make a mod that would add these features to function akin to the M-203. Here it is, the Battle Rifle.

Main features:
  • The ability to switch between semi-automatic and full automatic without a work bench.
  • An under slung grenade launcher, shot gun or flamer
  • The ability to make some alterations in the field without a work bench. Such as change scopes, muzzles and magazine types.
This mod does NOT replace the stock combat rifle. It is a new weapon based on the combat rifle but with its own weapon mods.
There are two ways to make field adjustments. For firing modes there are "Potions" which can be tied to hotkeys. And a holotape to change scopes, mags and muzzles. all parts can be created at the wepons work bench. Special Battle Rifle mods can be added via the work bench or added with the holotape. All of the Battle Rifle receivers (except the grenade launcher) are chambered for the .308 cartridge or the 5.56 mm for the lite version.

Update 1.1
Fixed the grenade launcher. I must have done a last minute change as it was working. But the version I was using, the same one I uploaded, didn't shift into grenade laucher mode. This new version does.

Update 2.0
  • There are now two different downloads. The orginal Battle Rifle (improved) chambered for the .308 cartridge and the Lite version chambered in 5.56mm
  • Both calibers now come in three versions, the original Battle Rifle with an under barrel grenade launcher, a Battle Assault Rifle with an under barrel shotgun and a Battle Carbine with an under barrel flamer.
  • You may only carry one of each type, rifle, assault rifle and carbine. Carrying two of the same type will cause the switch mode function to not work.
  • I have not yet tested to see what happens if you load both the .308 version and the lite 5.56 version. Might work. Might not due to the scripting.
  • The .308 version does 1.5 times the damage as the 5.56 version.
  • I created the lite 5.56 version because sometimes .308 rounds are had to come by. 
  • There are now four "potions" semi-automatic, full automatic (these work with all rifles), grenade launcher (only for the grenade launcher version) and Shotgun (works with the shotgun and flamer version). For fast switching during combat, assign the "potions" to hot keys. I recommend FO4 Hotkeys if you need more hotkeys.
  • You can get the base rifles from a metal container next to the crashed vertibird between the robot disposal yard and satelite station olivia. (See map in images.)
  • The grenade launcher no longer uses missiles. You can make Battle Rifle Grenades at the chem station.
  • I lowered the skill needed to make the mods. Everything was Gun Nut 4. It is now a mix of Gun Nut 1, Gun Nut 2 and Science 1.


I think that is all. I've tested this extensively (Two play throughs).

Update 2.1

If you downloaded 2.0, please replace it with 2.1. I found a script error that caused the configuration holotape to always modify the Battle Rifle, not the one you have currently equipped. I fixed it so that the holotape now modifies the rifle you currently have equipped. I am also pretty sure if you install both the standard and the light version you will have problems. So, please install one or the other but not both.
