I wanted to align with the Institute and wanted to keep Danse with me and do in the BoS - thus I found your mod. It turned out that load order, load order, load order was my problem at first, and once I fixed it so this mod loaded dead last, voila! It was SO COOL to see the courser come fetch Danse from the bunker. What was interesting was that instead of just kicking me out of the BoS, Maxson actually immediately started firing on me, as did his vertibird pilot, so I had no choice but to defend myself, and that turned Danse's attitude red (as you can see in the images I added (if they're approved!) to the Image tab here.
Anyway, it didn't matter. Once the fight was over - and the courser & synths he brought with him helped - then Danse was schwipped up by the tp-er and waiting on the SRB reclamation chair as promised. And then once the 24-hour waiting period was over and he was Institute-aligned, it turned out he still had the same ca_affinity, only a slight few points less, so no big at all. It all went off without a hitch after that. In short: THANK YOU for this mod. It worked perfectly once I'd sorted my load order out! :-) (Now, he hasn't advanced the romance yet so I'm unsure if that "works" of course, but if/when we get there I will edit to advise.) Again, thank you!
Update: Ohhhh, yikes, okay, so I dunno if this was how it was intended to work, but with Danse as my companion we went on the Airship Down mission for the Institute and the very first BoS person I fired at, Danse went hostile and started fighting against us as though he were still BoS. I went through the ENTIRE firefight, Prydwen-go-bye-bye and all that but he remained hostile even after I checked his affinity, which was still in the 970s. So as a workaround, I reloaded a save and dismissed him whilst still in the Institute, meaning he didn't come to the airport with me and that worked like a charm. He doesn't seem to be aware that I just obliterated them, unlike when he was with me. So...if that's a bug, is there a way you can somehow make it so he doesn't go hostile? I'm bummed. I was looking forward (because this play-through I'm a bit sick-and-twisted) to him helping me take down his former comrades. (As an aside, he went on the Bunker Hill mission with me prior to Airship Down. I sided with the Institute at BH and he acted fine, as though RR and BoS were his enemies, too.)
Last Update, I Promise: I am happy to report he gives the "you did good" speech after you take down the BoS (the same speech he gives if you blow up the Institute in the vanilla way). Unfortunately, his final romance conversation never triggered no matter how many ways I tried to do it, even with console commands. My "workaround" was to use console command to "force" him into the "isromantic" category and now I get lover's embrace when I sleep near him, at least. However, it did not give me his perk (unless I cheat once again, of course). So I guess if I were bug reporting, I'd give these three: 1) Danse turns hostile during Airship Down after the first time you fire on a BoS member 2) Danse's final romance/affinity conversation does not trigger even if he's still loving or liking your actions and even if he's at maxed out CA_Affinity 3) As a result of #2 (I'm guessing) you also don't ever get his perk
Still, I Cheaty McCheaterson'd my way into it working out pretty satisfactorily, though I have to say I did miss that final convo and how he acts during it. Again, I thank you for the mod and apologize for the book I just wrote here in your comments. :-P
Thanks for your thorough feedback and reporting. I really appreciate it. I've moved computers since I originally released the mod and I might not have the files to correct these issues at this point but I'll look and see what I can do.
Eventually yes, however, Blind Betrayal occurs in the Brotherhood of Steel questline before the "point of no return" when you are permanently flagged as an enemy of the Institute. So you can access both factions during this time provided you haven't been banned from the Institute for another reason like killing Father or similar. If you return Danse and then side with another faction by progressing their questline, you will most likely have to face Danse as a defender during the final siege of the Institute.
If you choose the Courser App option then that will create M7-97 who is in the Institute faction, he should automatically hate the Brotherhood. If you follow the institute's quest line then you will eventually hit a point of no return where you will become permanent enemies with the Brotherhood as well.
It would be kinda cool to make Curie for the Institute! I also think it is annoying that I can't tell Nick or Piper that "My Son Runs the Institute" It would be fun to see the look on Maxson's Face when you "Tell" him too! (I don't know if my "Reply" has made the post)
This is a pretty cool idea but given that making this mod was about 3 months of work (aside from my other responsibilities) I'm not sure I can make another one right now. It's a cool idea and I'll keep it in mind if I get more time.
It's on a shelf in the Institute SRB armory towards the back on the left. If it doesn't appear then the mod isn't activating properly, check your load order.
Can this work alongside Danse Dilemma? It would make a fitting route for an Institute run, considering DD adds an option to suggest returning, and this then offers an actual explicable way of facilitating it.
I'm pretty sure that Danse Dilemma triggers after Blind Betrayal so there's probably no overlap between the two. You can definitely have both mods installed and then choose the outcome you want but the two mods won't impact one another story wise. (i.e. you can't use the Recall Broadcaster on Danse after he turns hostile when you suggest he return to the Institute during Danse Dilemma.)
My reasons are more about how the underlying affinity system works instead of based in lore. The affinity events are triggered in a lot of different places in order to activate various companion responses. Since "M7-97" is technically a new character and not just a rename, I would have to create a new set of events and affinity data just for him to function and incorporate that everywhere. Then there's the issue that a lot of Danse's affinity dialog is tied with the Brotherhood which wouldn't make sense if M7-97 is supposed to be wholly affiliated with the Institute. So I decided to cut affinity from M7-97 both to save on effort as well as to make the best use of the assets I had.

For an Institute playthrough you need to make a "From Within" Recruit Doctor Li Fail quest. Doesn't make sense to get danse to the Institute after betraying the Institute in recruiting Doctor Li for the Liberty Prime Brotherhood of Steel project.
Since I don't have an Xbox I'm not comfortable releasing something I can't test even though it should work fine since it only uses native engine functionality. I've set permissions on the mod so anyone who wants to release it on another platform may do so.

EDIT: Managed to get it working. MAKE SURE TO PUT THE MOD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LOAD ORDER!
Great mod, im loving it. 10/10!

Either way, thanks so much for trying my mod!
