I've always headcanoned the car explosions as not being the reactor itself going boom but the highly pressurized hydrogen tanks that would have fed a fusion reactor.
You're probably 100% right actually. Fission and fusion reactors cannot explode like a bomb, it would have to be something else detonating to cause an explosion like that. There'd still be plenty of nuclear material left over too. Uranium 235 has a half life of 700 million years.
Still, I like the idea of this mod, the chances of that hydrogen still being in the tank after 200 years to explode like that is slim to none.
I really want to use this mod, however... it seems to have a few issues.
First off; some cars catch fire and stay burning apparantly forever? No idea if this is an issue on my end or not.
Secondly I think that the cars are not tough enough and could use quite a bit more hitpoints. A combination of this mod + Tougher Cars 10x would imho be ideal.
I always hated exploding cars in games in the first place. In real life the chances of an exploding car are very slim, as the gasoline only ignites in vapor form under normal conditions. and a full tank isn't going to blow anything up, just engulf the car in flames. In fact, the less gas is in the tank the higher the chances of it igniting and exploding.
Damn, I really love the Idea of that mod. Sadly it's not compatible with better explosives reload so no option for me :( Would you mind doing a patch? Cars have fire and don't deal radiation damage.
I can't get this working. Its a new mod, clean, no errors, run on moddless save, saved then loaded, no other esp files, removed explosion sounds files, I am out of ideas. Totally baffled.
Yes, all autos seem to have the vanilla damage mechanic. I use a save made outside 111 made with Vanilla modless and I uninstalled my only ESP file. I did not remove my altered INI file. I have some drop in files like SWFs. Vanilla when I touch a car they settle and also there is a tiny white light flash under them. I don't know if my game has an issue with autos or if it is my bad GPU issue. So....... I made a new ESP. I made a new STAT auto replacement for every MSTT auto type in the game except the fusion flee. I replaced every auto type in groups and now every individual exploding movable car PLACED OBJECT in the game is replaced, except the fusion flea. Fusion fleas will still flash and vanilla mechanics still function. The STAT autos don't flash, move, or explode. I don't understand how my changes work but Immersive Cars doesn't. Maybe it's a hidden VR thing but I am mostly sure it's not Immersive Cars. The new GPU will be here soon. I will see if the vanilla car flash is gone. I will try Immersive Cars again. If it doesn't work I will add the effects to one vanilla MSTT and see if the game runs the effects. And that is the oddness of modding.
Yea they were using Fusion Cores and as we know Fusion core is nuclear batery so basically cars in fallout are just electro mobiles using nuclear battery same as any other stuff since fusion cores were used in pretty much everything from military stuff to commercial stuff. But I guess we can call it "fuel".
