I wish there is a automatic module can fire automatically that can spend more 5mm without hurting my finger. Due to the ammo capacity, it may work like a single shot shotgun.
My apologies, I am sorry I commented that it does not work had to start a new game (it's ok wanted to anyway), work great love it to death. Thanks again The Pud already endorsed!!!!
First, obtaining it. I am level 60 (started with this mod enabled) and only got one as legendary (Junkie's, lol). So unless you rush to the institute (which is halfway to the game's main plot) you won't get one... Or you can rush to Railroad and get way superior Deliverer.
Second, actually using it. It kinda has the same role as Deliverer - a small, silent pocket gun. So will compare them, and maximally improved pipe pistol just because.
Weight: 5mm - 2, Deliverer - 6.9, pipe - 4.5 Damage per shot (no skill): 5mm - 65, Deliverer - 56, pipe - 28 Formal DPS: 5mm - 262, Deliverer - 564, pipe - 240 VATS accuracy (same range and target): 5mm - 11%, Deliverer - 40%, pipe - 30% VATS shots (14 agility): 5mm - 6, Deliverer - 16 (max queue, uses ?60% of AP), pipe - 14 Damage from VATS volley (in pixels of life bar): 5mm - 39, Deliverer - 208, pipe - 74 Gun Nut skill to upgrade: 5mm - 4, Deliverer - 3 (or buy from Tom when progressing with quests), pipe - 2
So... Yep, you'll better just use that pipe. Sure, it has decent damage per shot, and 50% damage multiplier sounds cool, but massive VATS cost and abysmal accuracy makes it pointless. The only use I can imagine - an extremely light sidearm to deal with radroaches without using your main ammo.
This feels like a decent early game weapon - dirt-cheap ammo and silenced makes it compelling for a sneaky character up to level ?15, but when you actually can obtain it you have a lot of way better options.
It's not really supposed to be that inaccurate, sounds like a bug to me. I'll look into it. I hardly ever use VATS so I hadn't noticed. I guess I can lower the AP cost if it's too high. And add a way to obtain it after destroying the Institute.
Pistols are a very VATS-focused weapon type, so it would be reasonable to expect a decent performance from them.
I've tried some manual use and it is more or less adequate (aiming is tricky), but still seriously underperforming for a late-game weapon. Also, a lot of players simply ignore the main story, so it would be nice to have a way to get it from another source. This pistol doesn't look like an Institute-specific weapon (it is a firearm, Institute stuff does pew-pew). There are a lot of factions with high tech - Brotherhood, Railroad (they are sweeping pre-war stashes with recon gear, a perfect place to find one of those), Atom Cats, Gunners...
I'd rather that the character started with one in their pocket via hold-out holster upon activating the mod (or at game start upon exiting cryostasis). Base damage is 3 times that of a 10mm, the 10mm uses a larger powder charge for a projectile twice the diameter.
Suggest (a) base damage reduced to 10; (b) removal from / option to remove from level list and legendary loot tables; and (c) having the Sole Survivor begin the game with it upon emerging from cryostasis or the spouse's corpse has it. For early game and holdout/backup piece viability, I've enjoyed it immensely.
You can use FO4Edit to adjust the values to your liking. Just be aware that if you drop the damage to 10, the damage added by the receiver mods will drop as well, so you might need to adjust them too. Deleting the quest in the mod will prevent the gun's addition to leveled lists. Since the gun will become unobtainable, you must use the console to add it to your inventory.
Try typing "help "custom 5mm" 4 weap" in the console and you should see the item ID. Then type "player.additem (the gun's item ID) (however many you want)"
synths can still drop it, got 2 in malden center, but it is fairly uncommon to drop on them, had to clear makhra fishpacking, university and malden to get 2 of them, so, i'd guess it is a rare drop you can get even post game
Wouldn't IOI claim it for copyright / asset theft, or something of that sort? I understand you're using it for free and not selling it, but still, just never know

I will change the muzzle flare to suppressed version instead of full-blown explosion. It seems suitable for the gun like this.
