the mod lets you choose which guns you replace when you install it. it doesn't just whole hog rip everything out and shove the gun in their place. I was sad about the same thing until I gave a different mod a try and saw it had a setup screen.
Mod itself had no problem for me, but AER-15 is rather annoying when used to replace something common like institute laser. The insane laser light show every time you encounter a group of enemies armed with AER-15 makes it impossible to see anything. (Especially if some of them spawn with the multi-beam variants)
I've come across a weird issue in my game, not sure if it's a once only if it'll be persistent but when I turned on the replacer I noticed most characters used the gun correctly, but when I came across Danse in a fresh playthrough, he held the weapon but used it as a melee weapon punching with it, is that normal or is it a conflict somewhere in my mods?
Have the same issue. I noticed it mostly with my minutemen. It turns out that Militarized Minutemen Uniforms, Patches and Insignia Addon? edits MM weapons so most of my replacers are being broken by that mod. It's more noticeable with this mod, my MM are literally punching with the weapon.
This happened to me too when having a companion using a Legendary weapon (2 shot) and the replacer is applied. The way I fixed it is getting a non Legendary weapon of the same kind, e.g. Laser Rifle and adding the same Legendary effect via console (the old way e.g. .amod) then swap it out via Trade (or console "openactorcontainer 1") then activate it using "T". HTH PS. the way I discovered this is when I try to check the default "buggy" Legendary weapon in a Weapon Workbench is that I can't apply the upgrades of the replacer and still see the vanilla upgrades.
I loved the look of this replacer but when I tried it I got a big purple square in the centre of the scope whenever I tried to aim at something. I have been using Fallout 4 Scopes Framework and See Through Scopes as well, but haven't noticed any issues aiming with any other weapons. I also couldn't find any other posts mentioning the same problem. Some mention a tint, but I couldn't find any reference to a completely opaque purple square.
I then tried the AER15 mod on its own, no such issue.
Any ideas where I start looking to try and fix the issue? Or a patch already out there that will fix it?
I have Run into the same Issue with Heather Casdin (Eg: Punching Instead of Using the Laser Rifle). The Workaround I have found is to just "Give" the Companion another AER Laser Rifle (Modded however you want) They will then recognize it as a "normal" Laser Rifle. I would also make sure to give them 1 microfusion cell just to be on the safe side so they don't default back to their "vanilla" weapon and start going all "fisticuffs" again.

And/Or a replacer for the Enclave plasma weapons in AR2?
