Just a note: on existing saves the vanilla helmets may have the mining helmet light attached to them by default instead of the custom one added by JohnnyBlade's mod, so you will have to take it to an armor workbench and attach one of the proper mods. I've tested it on a new save and it works fine, however.
Hello friend i really want to say thanks. i only have one issue with armor smith extended. the vanilla helmet cannot be modded by work benches as it doesnt pop up. so the mod doesnt work right now for me. any tips?
i keep getting this check failed notification that the "marine armor helmet light - vanilla.esp" can't work without "marine armor helmet light.esl" not .esp and that of course isn't right, am i doing something wrong?
The mod is a mesh replacement and should theoretically replace the vanilla mesh, but I'm guessing that the Marine Armor Helmet Light mod from JohnnyBlade is using the vanilla asset, of which this is using. Is there any way I can fix this and make the Marine Assault Helmet have both a light and the hood mesh? If you can provide any help that would be great, I don't really know too much about all this Fallout 4 Edit stuff and you seem to have fixed one of my major gripes with the armor.
JohnnyBlade's mod is using a custom mesh, in fact it's using several; you can get Vashdakkari's mod working with JohnnyBlade's mod by renaming MOutfit_Helmet.nif & FOutfit_Helmet.nif in Vashdakkari's to marinehelmetlight.nif & marinehelmetlightf.nif and replacing the JohnnyBlade files, and the light will sort of work and the hood will be present, but you'll be stuck with the default mining helmet light and in third person the light will bug out and be floating in the air.
I know nothing about meshes so if you want them to merge thier work you'll have to ask one of the original mod authors for help, sorry.
Edit: Even if I went and learned how to do it, I'd have to ask both of them for permission to share the merged mesh because it's thier work and who knows when or if they'd respond
Edit 2: I've tried messing around in nifscope but I just ended up making my game crash whenever it tried to load the helmet in so yeah lol

Like I say, go ask one of the original mod authors for help, I'm sure they'd be happy to.
