Basic setup guide (1 comment)

It took me a little while to work out how to set this up, so I thought I'd write down what I did in a basic guide:

    A) Create main storage

In Sanctuary (or wherever you want your main settlement to be):

    1. Create logistics desk

    • Enter workshop mode (hold V).
    • "Special" > "Logistics Desk" > create.
    • Tab to go back a step, then assign a settler to the Logistics Desk (don't use a named settler).
    • Exit workshop mode.

    2. Setup Master

    • Hover over the Logistics Terminal (on the Logistics Desk) > E > [Utilities] > [Make This Station "Master"] (ie store all items here).
    • Tab x2 to go back to main menu.

    3. Setup collection (optional)

    • Logistics Terminal main menu> [Collection Settings] > [Global Collection Settings] > [Toggle].[Collection Disabled] (toggles collection on, ie enables collecting whatever settlers find).
    • Tab x3 to exit.

    4. Set this location as main

    • Hover over the Logistics Desk (aim just under the terminal, on the metal frame of the table) > E > Set Up Locker (this puts a "Logistics Storage Designator" in your inventory).
    • Go to your Workshop and store the "Logistics Storage Designator".
    • Tab to exit - you will probably get a popup to disable attacks, select No to keep the situation as is, or Yes to keep this settlement safe.

    B) Add another settlement

In Sanctuary (or another settlement you've already added):

    1. Set up parts for another settlement

    • Go to your Chemistry Station.
    • E to Craft > Utility > make a "Packed Logistics Desk" and a "Settlement Creation Kit".
    • Optional: pick up an extra spring in case you want to make the 'smaller' logistics locker later.
    • NB If the new settlement is currently deserted, or only has named settlers, send an unnamed settler there (depending on distance it can take them several days to arrive).

    In the new settlement:

    2. Unpack Logistics Desk

    • Find an open area.
    • Now for an explosion... Go to Inventory > Misc > Packed Logistics Desk (it looks like a toolbox) and drop it. When you exit the Pipboy (or perhaps after a short timer), the Packed Logistics Desk will explode and become a "Logistics Desk".
    • Enter workshop mode and move the desk to a suitable place.
    • Assign a settler to the desk (don't use a named settler). They'll walk off, heading out of the settlement.

Note: Unless you use an unassigned settler, this will, of course, remove them from their current job. If you took them off food production, I believe that the other settlers won't take up the slack automatically - go through all the other settlers and re-assign them to food. That will make sure they're all doing the most they can.

    3. Check assignment

    • Go to your map and press C - you should see the new settlement linked to your network.
    • Go into the Logistics Terminal > Utilities > Summon Assigned Provisioner - exit the terminal and you should see the settler you assigned standing nearby again.

Note: They should now have a new name: "Provisioner: <this settlement> to <Sanctuary>". Sometimes this doesn't happen - I don't think it causes any issues, but if it bothers you, use the termal to unassign local provisioner  (Utilities > Unassign Provisioners > Unassign Local Provisioners) and assign a different settler.
(BTW You can also do this at Sanctuary after you've added at least one new settlement- the settler should now have the name "Provisioner Administrator").

    • Optional: As your provisioner will be travelling the wastes, you might want to upgrade their armour and gun (note: give them just 1 of the right ammo - apparently this way they will have infinite ammo). You might also want to make them visually different from other settler types - I've given all mine fedoras :)

    4. Setup locker

    • Stand at the workshop (you'll see why later).
    • Go to Inventory > Junk > Settlement Creation Kit (it looks like a toolbox).
    • Drop this and exit the Pipboy.
    • Enter workshop mode and scrap the Settlement Creation Kit (this is supposed to be for components for a generator, beacon & desk, but we're going to use the parts to make...)
    • "Special" > "Logistics Locker" (there are two options, they do the same thing but take different components - the 'smaller' one needs an extra spring that isn't in the kit).
    • Put it near to the workshop (for now - you can move it later).
    • Exit.

    5. Link workbenches

    • Hover over the Logistics Locker > E > Link Workbenches to Logistics Storage > Yes, relink workbenches to Logistics Storage.

    6. Check workshop link

    • In workshop mode - you should have access to all the components in your master storage.
    • Exit workshop mode and try to craft at a station - again you should have access to all the components in your master storage.

    7. Move items to main storage

    • All the crafting stations now have access to your master storage but the local workshop is still local storage so...
    • Go to the local workshop and take everything.
    • Go to the Logistics Locker (good job it's nearby!) and hover over it > E > Store All Junk
    • You can now move the Logistics Locker to anywhere you wish.

Note: you can use Logistics locker > R to access your main access storage (or E > Access remote workbenches > open [1] ).

    8. Optional workshop builds:

    • resources > miscellaneous > Fast Travel Target
    • resources > miscellaneous > Brahmin Feed Trough
    • resources > miscellaneous > Bell
    • resources > miscellaneous > Siren (needs power)
    • power > miscellaneous > Recruitment Radio Beacon (needs power)

    Hope this helps!
