I just noticed that (and this is probably only specific to SS2) there's a holotape you get in relation to a quest that is narrated by a Super Mutant and of course.... LOL. Oh well. Whatever he was saying was apparently not mission critical.
Really great idea... but ngl I was hoping specifically that it WOULDN'T be Reach voices. Much prefer the English speaking Brutes, especially if they'd be replacing Supermutants who do speak English
Unfortunately it replaces raiders and therefore means replacing raider dialogue, which presents a number of issues:
This dialogue is used by lots of other NPCs, including Gunners and wastelanders, so you'd have human NPCs with elite voice lines.
There's a great deal more dialogue to replace in comparison to super mutant dialogue, it would take maybe 2-3 weeks of mind numbing work.
Raider dialogue includes more conversation compared to that of super mutants, and there isn't much conversational dialogue available from the Halo CE or Halo Reach games that featured untranslated covenant. Translated dialogue might be more available in the other games, but then you have the problem of making the conversations coherent - something I didn't have to do with this mod and would require further weeks of work/testing.
So yeah if Kelcken or anyone else makes a separate faction with their own voice lines then I can throw one together. But in it's current form it would be too difficult.
Man, all I need is a mod that adds the "That was my lover!" line from Halo 3 to the game. Every time I fight super mutants, for some reason I keep expecting one of them to say it.
I absolutely love this! I was tired of their derp-de-derp voices "me big supa mutant" bleh. This is such a cool sounding overhaul of their voices, and if I want to know what they say, I have subtitles on but I don't even read them, they just cycle through a small list over and over. I don't care if this is from another game, or what the lore is, yada yada, I just think this "language" suits them better. So thanks for sharing this!
I find it more immersive this way. And depending on the timeline the UNSC may not have had the translation software, or had not distributed the hardware outside of intelligence services yet - that's what I'm rolling with in my playthrough anyway.
....that and the Halo Reach audio files were more readily available tbh.
@ProfPriday You could always get them from footage if you have to. Halo Wars 2 in particular had great dialogue. "Voradus, listen to me. You fail him ONE MORE TIME trying to prove yourself and I will NOT be able to protect you. And it will be BOTH our skulls beneath his mace."
This guy has ripped H2 audio, not sure if it's available online but you could try asking him if you want them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=row9htzvVio&t=672s&ab_channel=WepospalientWepospalient
So there's a lot here on the nexus like the ones lizardmage linked and a few that are off-site that I'll link in the video description on YouTube, since I'm not allowed to link them here.
