I'm more than likely (not 100% set in stone) going to update this mod along with CSFR in the second half of the year so I'll add it to the list and see if I can find a source I can use (I have to respect rights of the producers).
Ahhhh, I know but I'm just very respectful towards modders I really don't wanna upset anyone or annoy by posting bugs, issues etc. but I'm very thankful for this mod it gives me a completely different vision of Fallout 4
That's cool, and I know some can act like divas lol. I do welcome bug reports, especially if it's something potentially game breaking, because then I can fix it, and people don't have to figure out which mod is borking their game.
It's not a replacer, but two additional stations, so all your vanilla stations will remain intact.
If you mean the frequency, then the main station is on 90.5 and Dark Fantasy is on 95.0. If it's conflicting with another station that is a mod, or I've inadvertently used a frequency the game uses then let me know, and I'll patch it
You're a rock star. Yeah, I meant frequency lol. No conflicts yet; I'm just keeping track of my add on stations so that I know if a new station will conflict. Fantastic job with this mod bud and much thanks for all of your hard work. This is pure awesome sauce.
No probs. I keep meaning to spend a few hours going through the stations in FO4Edit and making a reference document for anyone who needs to know the frequencies. If I get chance over Xmas I'll probably do it.
I'll see if I can find a public domain version of it. I can find several versions of it, but despite the work itself being in the public domain, my understanding is the rights to the recording itself will still be with whoever recorded it (why you're not allowed to share new films based on old works). Failing that, I may have to use the Librivox recording, which is read by a young lady and doesn't quite fit the tone of the mod.
Anyway, I'll make it a holotape and hide it somewhere with a picture of where it is for people to figure out, but there'll be a slight delay as I have other mods that require some urgent TLC.
Love how the play written in Vancouver has an opening line about rain, because of course it does. Oh! Great mod, btw. Works as advertised and everything. Kinda quiet though *turns volumn up* You thought of everything! Mod of the Month
The quietness is partly down to the fact some of these plays are over 70 years old, so the fact that they're even digitized is a minor miracle. I'll be adding a few more before Halloween so I'll run the original files through Audacity and boost the volume a bit which should help.
OK, I tried with boosting the audio and it made it worse. There's artifacting going on in the audio (the modulating sound in the background) and because some of it is on the source media, it enhances it. There's also the fact that there's a lot of high pitch noise in there, and boosting it made it really uncomfortable (as in physically painfu)l to listen to, especially if you use a headset and my son actually took his off at one point. I think it disoriented the nearby bat colony as well.
The other thing I have to consider is the mod being manageable for me personally. The XWM compression routine the audio uses has a maximum file size (I initially thought it was length of the audio, until I bothered to look at what was happening closely), and once I hit this magic number the compression routine borks and fails. Now I'm left with 3 choices: I either release a mod which is ~35GB in size, chop the audio into smaller pieces (which means I've tripled the number of files) or drop the settings, which effects the end quality. Having a minimum of 3 files for each play is a nightmare to track if something goes wrong, and there's always the chance of me missing a track or something because I have to import each track individually (I swear it's mind numbingly repetitive and I could train a chimp to do it, although my son fills this role occasionally).
I'm really sorry I couldn't fix this, and I have tried pretty much everything I could think of, short of having the audio professionally enhanced (which is more money than I'm willing to part with for a mod).
Appreciate the effort, it's really not that bad as I've been listening to it over the last few days. My apologies to your sons ears and the coming war with the bat colony. Happy Halloween!
I don't have fallout 4 installed right now but this mod is making me want to play again, this plus a bunch of spooky mods should make for one hell of a spooky Halloween. Thanks for making this, I love old spooky radio plays!
If you like sci-fi radio plays as well, check out my other mod Commonwealth Sci-Fi Radio. It's currently undergoing a redux and a new version will be out in a week or so. It will also have a real world companion online radio station (so you can listen without even playing Fallout 4 - even on your phone), with no ads or filler, just classic sci-fi radio plays.
