For anyone interested I'm currently (slowly) working towards a replacement concept with the same goals as this mod. The only issue with that of course is the famous pain that precombined meshes are however, I will probably not fully remove any trees to avoid that and instead use some material tricks I've been taught on here to change the model to make it stumped or much shorter to try to lower that 'forest of sticks' looks that it has in really forested areas.

no eta but I'm excited for it and want to let ya'll know I haven't gave up on this concept despite the limitations of this method (And having disappeared from modding for a bit)

    !Notice!: 9/24/2022
I screwed up and used a super misleading name for the separate .dds files I uploaded for a modder! So anyone who has that version (renamed on here now with modders resource in the name) should probably just delete it, then download one of the other plugin versions + the object lod file. Sorry guys/gals

Looks better than F4 Vanilla trees and good to use together with Flutter Flicker Fixer For Foliage

    Really Thanks !

Hello, I just install your mod on a fresh install, I am using icepick as only other texture replacement . But whatever version of your mod I install, I cannot make it work. The only "presence" of your mod is some branch are no longer attached to tree.
Tree remain vanilla with the awfully 2d branch.

Could you please help understand ?

    Thank again for your contribution

EDIT: This mod seems to be incompatible with vivid tree, especialy if vivid tree is loaded before barren tree.

Then you have a loose rile overwriting it or mods are not enabled in the ini, edit: OR it's a version incompatibility though that seems unlikely.

edit: So I made the mistake of not properly naming the misc file, which was meant for a specific file request not for player use. Try one of the ones with an .esp/.plugin.
Sorry that is probably why (the misc version doesn't have the Object LOD regenerated in it which is why it's only a few MB)

Sorry for the late reply. I fixed it! Thank you!! Will your next overhaul version remove the weird smaller skinny trees that have absolutely no branches?

Yeah I want to make those either very rare or gone, yep. Hopefully I have energy to work on it soon

Is it possible to get a patch for the floating vines on certain trees? This mod is amazing and pairs great with wildergrass (the dry grass version ). Confirmed it does not conflict. It appears the floating vines are left from this mod. Wondering if there is a way to edit those select trees to make those vine textures see through going through those trees

So appreciative of this mod to finally rid myself of a specific ugly unscrappable bush I always notice first at Tenpines!  And surprisingly was able to keep my tree mod as well.  I use Pine Trees Redone, downloaded the Modding Resource File here and kept just the texture files (deleted the LOD's).  I still have my beautiful pines but now without that ugly bush protruding from my floors.  Thanks so much.

I am now working on version 2.0

Won't break precombines, but effectively swaps trees to use destroyed variants!

Thats awesome! Barren trees is my go to mod for that muddy post-apocalyptic wasteland feel without going full desert as I love the foggy rain and rad weather atmosphere too much and that doesn't work as well with sand and cacti! I look forward to the update!

I'll second that. This is my favorite tree mod on nexus for environments. Definitely a good one with a great atmosphere!

My lod textures stopped working suddenly mid playthrough. I didn't alter any mods or anything. Was using the fallout 4 upscaler with no issues prior. It dosen't appear to be the settings. I am also running sim settlements 2. Not sure if the number of scripts is affecting the lod. any advice welcome. Its suddenly present on all of my saves

Your generated lod is likely being overwritten by something

    EDIT:

Okay, good news. Somehow PRP works with my mod. I legit do not understand how this is the case as I assume trees are included in previs. How do they not flicker if I set them to invisible using previs that was genned with trees?!

At high I'm getting 144fps with or without it at 2k on a 2070super so...performance shouldn't be an issue after all. A patch to add trees into precombines would be ideal but I don't think it's necessary.
