- Requirements/Compatibility? This mod requires all DLCs and the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (UFO4P) to be installed. It modifies a significant number of NPCs and quests, so compatibility with other mods that do the same is not guaranteed.
- How is this different from the other mods out there? In addition to setting essential characters to be protected, this mod also removes and replaces the "Invulnerable" and "Is Ghost" flags. Also, this mod changes essential quest aliases to protected, so (for example) quest givers shouldn't become unkillable, even while their quests are still active. As of v1.1.0, it also modifies vanilla scripts that set characters to essential, setting them to be protected instead.
- How is this different from the "bEssentialTakeNoDamage=0" .ini tweak? The although the .ini tweak removes the essential tags and de-essentializes quest aliases, it won't add protected tags to the affected NPCs, meaning that they can die easily in encounters with other NPCs. Also, the .ini tweak doesn't affect NPCs marked with "Invulnerable" or "Is Ghost".
- Bugs? This mod will almost certainly mess up any quest involving a non-lethal fight between the player and an NPC, since the essential tag is used to keep the NPC from dying once their health reaches zero. As of posting, I haven't verified that this is the case, but it was definitely the case in Skyrim and the brawl-managing quest in FO4 looks quite similar.
- I've found an unkillable NPC, even with this mod installed! Please verify that the NPC in question isn't being modified or created by another mod (including CC content), then let me know.
- Why did you make/what is the point of this mod? Sometimes, partway through a quest, one finds out that the questgiver is actually the bad guy (at least from one's character's point of view). Looking at you, William Moseley.
