Just as a heads up, the .esp file is in fact NOT flagged as an ESL. Should be safe for users to flag it themselves with FO4Edit since Wrye Bash indicates it could be safely flagged and the mod author clearly intended for it to be so based on the file description.
It's not, at least not the latest version. It's recommended by the author and compatible but the esp's only master is Fallout4.esm. If your file has canary as a master, try redownloading or right click the esp in FO4Edit and select "Clean Masters".
Does anyone know if this mod is compatable with the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch? I've tried adding the mod (without either of the optional dependencies) to my playthrough and it doesnt crash but i do not get any of the prompts at cooking station, armor station or workbench (will try Weapons station shortly).
Perfect! Wanted this so bad to use for a playthrough where I can't store items anywhere. Was worried when it didn't show up when at the workshop, but works at weapon station. Thanks for the mod!
If it scraps empty bottles too then I guess I better remember to fill them up before I stop by a settlement....
Add the drop/pickup sound when the mod procs, I was kinda confused the first time I used it. Just realized it worked once the popup appeared saying the junk was scrapped.
And please make it work with some 0 weight items such as pens, I get it to not work with Pre-War Money but there's a lot of other stuff that could be scrapped.
You are correct re sounds - I need to find a grinding sound in the game to use. This can be done with the next update: that will include some means of setting some items to not be ground to components.
The zero-weight stuff was a choice on my part. Like the prewar money grinds to cloth - heavier than the money. Ditto for pens and other stuff: the result is heavier than the original.
It could be done easily enough. However, a pencil going from zero weight to 0.3 (lead) and 0.2 (wood) defeats the purpose of lightening the load in the field. (Nonsense item recipes lmao)
If you want the lead from a pencil to take to another settlement for manufacturing purpose like your ammo building set up is there, it's easier to see just Lead in the workbench so you can grab it. If it's still in pencil form you have look for lead and pencils. Apply that same situation to steel or anything else and it would have just been easier if all items that can be scrapped are scrapped to the components for easier use. Bethesda should have had an option for the workbench to just auto scrap everything. I understand that means some weightless items will then have weight but the benefits of getting components out-weigh (pun intended) that small downside.
First off, this is one hell of a mod. Fantastic work.
I agree with angryglock on this matter. I suppose it boils down to inventory management convenience vs. load limitations. Shipments aside (I agree they should be excluded), I usually don't carry enough loose pencils, pens, chalk, loose tobacco products, or burnt books or magazines that any extra weight from their scrapped components bog me down. However, when I reach a settlement I always have to stop, sift through my junk inventory, drop those items, and manually scrap them. I'd rather pay the small weight "fee" to have a one-button solution, a consistent inventory, less management grind, and ultimately a smoother settlement building experience.
Also, I'd recommend using the short transfer "whoosh" sound over a prolonged grinding noise. Just a quick cue to let the player know all's done. Honestly, for me it got a bit old after hearing the drill the first few dozen times. Also, is there a way to patch out the sound effect in FO4Edit?
Great mod!!! Thank you for your work!!! Small question. Is it possible to add an option to the MCM menu to change hotkey? There were just situations when you need to jump, but in the end, the rubbish was sorted out. (Google Translate)

Why do you want those ground down?
To get the components?
