Hey man just wanted to let you know that it looks absolutely gorgeous and i have a question as well. Do you think you could make this camo for the handmade rifle ? I think that it would look amazing as well
I love the gold plate coloring but I don't use regular guns...would love this type of texturing on some of the more fun sci-fi weapons like the laser and plasma ones. Looks really nice!
Nice. Slasher7 also did a golden skin for this weapon but these two also look great so, if I have the time and I get to pull it off, I'll try to make both of these standalone reskins so that I can play with the 3 textures. Greed! lol
I have successfully done this for Armor retextures but I haven't made any Weapon retext to standalone conversion. lol My impression is that it should be easier for weapon retextures but I could be absolutely wrong though.
I've used this guide for standalone armor textures:
I plan to wing it and use those instructions for a weapon retexture (wherever those instructions help) and then/also pretty much copy what Slasher7 did but with new paths for your textures. lol Hopefully I'll pull it off.
I'm using the AKM Replacer, and I'd like to figure out how to make this texture for only the Pack rifles. If you figure out how to make 'em standalone, please post!
I don't get what you mean with "Pack Rifles". It may take a while before I get to this weapon, currently fighting with instance naming rules when adding a standalone retexture for raider armor pieces (I will ask for help in the forums soon cuz I can't figure out this one lol).
What I plan to do is have these retextures available in the weapon workbench. If I get to them and it works (of which I am very optimistic) I'll try to share the final product here if houmik and co. don't mind.
So... for last few hours i am trying to learn this new thing for me... Material swap :D Since the guide you provided didnt really worked for me, or i am just dumb i was poking around in FO4Edit and basically learning it by trial & error :D Also I found out, that the gold doesn't really look gold in harsh weather. So there will be 2.0 version of the textures.
I will make more tests and i will update this retexture to actual mod :D
I did something similar. lol I used that guide which is for Creation Kit and "repurposed" the guide for FO4Edit. lol
This may not be completely helpful but I'd say the key is to create .esp records in a specific order (which of course I don't know how many of these may be necessary for a weapon material swap because like I said I haven't tried it yet).
Here is the order in which I created esp records in FO4Edit for armor pieces:
Material Swap: MSWP_Standard_Vanilla_Raider_Armor_Texture 08014082 MSWP_Overclocked_Standalone_ReText 08014083 ===================== Misc Item miscmod_Overclocked_armor_RaiderMod 08014084 miscmod_Vanilla_Texture [MISC:08014091] 08014091 ========================== Keywords Overclocked_Amor Type 08014085 Overclocked_ma_armor_Lining 08014086 Vanilla_ma_armor_Lining [KYWD:08014092] 08014092 ================================ Object Modification OMOD_Vanilla_Standard_Raider_Skin 08014087 OMOD_Overclocked 08014088 ============================== Constructible Object CONOB_Vanilla_Standard_Raider Skin 08014089 CONOB_Overclocked_Raider_Skin 0801408A ============================== Armor Pieces In Keywords: Overclocked_ma_armor_Lining 08014086 Vanilla_ma_armor_Lining 08014092 In APPR: Attached Parent Slot Overclocked_Amor Type 08014085 ==================================== What I find a little tricky and I'm currently trying to solve is that you need to create a material swap for the original texture as well (so that you can switch back and forth among them, the other gold plated mod I mentioned must have them as an example), and I am also struggling with the instance naming rule records so that when I select the original texture the armor says in it's name Medium Raider Armor (Standard) and when selecting the new standalone retexture in the armor workbench make it so that the naming changes to Medium Raider Armor (Overlocked or Gold in your mod's case).
I successfully got the vanilla and new standalone retexture to show ingame and spawn ingame but the naming of the items is my "final boss" I can't seem to slay. lol
Maybe if you take a look at the other gold plated mod I mentioned here and reverse-engineer what he/she did with it while paying attention to the list order of records I posted here you can figure it out.
Its not really weather fix, only little bit glossier so it doesn't look like one colored texture in darker places, storms etc. I somehow managed to add it as craftable mod at weapons workbench and it's now online. Hope everything still works :D
Also i find out, that you dont really need to make material swap for the original textures. The Object modification for the original textures only need Keyword - Attach Point and that's it. How it works i have no idea, but it does.
I am not sure if the AKM will show up as Gold or something in the name, but i dont really care about that.
Also would you mind to share some screenshots of the golden retexture with me? I am not really sure how it looks at other clients, since mine is heavily modded with ENBs, Color correction mods etc.
I eliminated the material swap and it seems to work. I didn't check the Leveled List spawns without the vanilla texture material swap though, which is something I am working on.
I CARE! lol I want to have a visual indication that the armor is either using the new retexture or the vanilla one, specially when looting and checking the leveled list is working properly. The fact that all pieces are named "Overclocked" is making me lose my mind. I will yield and ask the people here for help in the coming days. lol
Nice! I am happy to see that they are working correctly. This whole retexture is a big learning session for me, so I am glad that I didn't f cked up something and it works lol.
I hope that you will find a solution for your problem. It's really satisfying when you finally get something working and it doesn't crash your game :D
Didn't know there was also a good gold weapon retexture mod out there! houmik your presentation is way better than mine! good job!
Sorry to join this post so late. For anyone still interested how to make standalone versions are made give this thread a bump up. I will explain it. I didn't use FO4Edit btw. I made use of the Creation Kit.
ah yes, the sweet nostalgia of being good at video games.... i used have prestige in cod bo https://www.nicepng.com/ourpic/u2q8a9u2y3r5w7e6_ak-47-gold-bo-ak-47-call-of/ but now im so trash at video games that i switched to offline open world RPGs.... damn, the good ol days,
Yeah same for me That's why i recreated this in FO4. I also have golden deagle retexture ( for this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10011 ) with the same textures (not the battle scarred tho )
These two guns (AK and Deagle) in gold were my main guns in COD4
no one, no one at all: pablo escobar: for me? you shouldnt have. scarface:thats my new little freind al capone:f*#@ a chicago typewriter, i wanna russian gold bar bonnie: that looks real nice, should we just steal it and run? clyde: maybe kill a few cops on the way out? sure. i dont see the harm in it.

This isn't usually my sort of thing, but I've started a new, greedy character to make the most of it!
Look forward to seeing what you do next! :D
