I don't know if I will have the problem that every time a character speaks there is no soundI tried to look for a solution but I can't find it, please help
Ok silly question. Does this remove the shadows from the interiors aswell? Coz in my case it doesnt and the shadows are very game breaking and fugly. Any step by step solution to remove shadows from interiors too please?
You can completely "remove" shadows from the game (including the shadow box that follows you) by changing these in FalloutPrefs.ini. Any lower than 512 and some flickering occurs but I'm thinking increasing fBlendSplitDirShadow even further might counter this.
i do not think you need to edit all those things to disable shadows. iShadowMapResolution=8 iMaxFocusShadows=0 iMaxFocusShadowsDialogue=0 uiShadowFilter=1 uiOrthoShadowFilter=1 this disabled shadows for me, but gameplay experience will be less immersive. and might cause flickering in some areas.
and i DO NOT recommend fBlendSplitDirShadow=999999.0000, this simply cause FPS drops. (tested) but it might reduce flickering, i didn't check it with flickering though.
fBlendSplitDirShadow controls the distance which the high quality shadows transitions into the low quality shadows. But since shadow distance is reduced to 0, the filters are the worse ones (3) and the resolution is 512 fBlendSplitDirShadow will barely impact performance. There is literally no performance impact, no idea what you're talking about.
I just wanted to say thanks, a lot. For some reason this engine for fallout 4 just did not want to play smoothly due to these terrible shadows. With this ini change, I was able to take all of them out and turn up other graphic options. Thanks a lot, mate.
thanks for this tweaks Mr. soap000 and Mr. Scrabbulor, you save my money from upgrading my computer. with this I push my i-5 2.9ghz quad core 4gb ram with sh*tty GeForce GT 705. NO ENB YET and still smooth gameplay. Kudos
I combine this with these mods and does really give me HUGE FPS I hope these help others.

Thank you so much for this. I've been looking for a way to tweak in-game shadows. I tried setting iShadowMapResolution to 8 and there was massive flickering. Tried all of your configs on FalloutPrefs.ini. manually and it increased my outdoor fps by at least 10.

iShadowMapResolution=512
uiShadowFilter=3
uiOrthoShadowFilter=3
fBlendSplitDirShadow=999999.0000
iMaxFocusShadows=0
iMaxFocusShadowsDialogue=0
fShadowDistance=0.0000
fDirShadowDistance=0.0000
iDirShadowSplits=1
And these in Fallout4.ini although I don't think these are necessary.
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=512
iShadowMapResolution=512
iShadowMapResolution=8
iMaxFocusShadows=0
iMaxFocusShadowsDialogue=0
uiShadowFilter=1
