I did read the comment below about NPC's not commenting on the fact that you're wearing a Vault Suit, but does anyone know if this is still the case? I'm wanting to do a full play-through while wearing the Suit but I would love to download this mod for some extra flavour. Maybe I'll download it anyway and try it out when I meet Piper. Anyway, no matter if it works as I want it to or not, this armour looks great!
Finally found a good reason to rock the vault-suit look. Love the mod, works well & looks great. Fantastic work! Also, what Dogmeat mod are you using in the pictures? Looks fantastic but can't find anywhere.
Sorry for the late reply! The dogmeat is actually from the Creation Club "mod" called TransDOGrifier. It adds a collar that can be altered at a workbench, then equipped on Dogmeat to change his appearance to a couple new looks. I decided, "f**k that," and ripped one of the skins' assets that I think was called Diseased Dogmeat or something, and made my own personal mini mod that just flat out replaces his default look with that one from the beginning. And thanks for the complements on the mod! It was fun to make and was inspired by the Armored Vault Suit and Mad Max Fury Road haha.
Are you using a mod manager such as Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex? Also, please make sure the mod is not only installed but the plugin has to be activated too. If the mod is installed and the plugin is activated, then you should be able to find the armor at any Chem Lab workbench under the "Wasteland Rugged" category. You could also try searching via the console under "rugged 4"
I am using vortex for install and i've made sure it's in my load order and the meshes are in data, still the mod is not in my game and have tried the console search
I am sorry, but I do not know how else to help you. The mod works on both my vanilla/unmodded tests and my fully modded game. If the mod is installed correctly and the plugin is activated, then it should be working just fine. I have not had anyone else report this issue either.
I'm having one problem though - if I use any other under armor other than the rugged vault suit(minuteman outfit, road leathers, BOS suit, etc etc), I sometimes experience a strange "clipping" where my characters torso will become slightly buffer and larger, and basically absorb the harness into the character's chest area.
The only thing that remedies it is a combination of spam creating several new harnesses and several new instances of the underarmor I want, and then equipping and unequipping them over and over until it settles properly.
Have you ever experienced this? Is this something you might be able to remedy?
Thank you, I’m glad you’re enjoying the mod! I apologize for my late response, I haven’t been on Nexus in a bit. As for the clipping issue you’re experiencing, the only thing I can think of is if you happened to be using another mod that affects the player’s body. I created the armor for vanilla bodies. Also, I don’t recall if I tested the different armor pieces on other under armors. It’s interesting that it works sometimes and doesn’t work other times. I’ve stopped modding for the time being, but if you find a solution, please post it here for others to see! Thanks!
- NPCs won't acknowledge the Rugged Vault Suit as an actual Vault Suit during dialogue. Is it possible to make it so that NPCs will comment on the rugged vault suit as being a vault suit?
- I saw in the picture that there was a knife strapped to the boot, but there isn't one in-game. Is it possible to add that back, maybe as an optional file or a second version of the outfit?
- I know that there is a cowl for the outfit already, but could you add a scarf without the hood for the outfit as well?
That's all I currently have. I love the outfit, & I can't wait to see more from you.
Thank you for the ideas. I wouldn’t know how to get in-game dialogue to register the armor as a vault suit unfortunately. I assume that the game is scripted in those instances to notice the armor being worn specifically has editor ID of the vault suits obtained from the beginning of the game. I really don’t know.
The boot knife was originally part of the armor, but the first 2 versions of the mod had a bug that would make the game crash to desktop. I was able to rebuild the armor meshes to prevent the crashes, but in the process I couldn’t get the knife to work without causing other graphical issues. Someday I might be able to figure it and get the knife back as part of the armor.
I currently don’t have any plans to add more armor pieces to the mod. If you have another mod that adds scarves or neck covers, I’d suggest using them for now =)
Sorry, this vault suit is intended to be player-made scavenged armor that the lone survivor crafts after surviving in the wasteland for a while. The external pieces can be worn over regular vault suits though. If you want to change all vault suits to look like this one, it can easily be done in the Creation Kit by changing the Vault Suit mesh to the one from this mod.
Uhh... okay.. can you make a tutorial on how to do that, and where is this creation kit thing? I really just want the boots and gloves option as a replacer.. Also, how do you edit nifs?
The gloves are no longer part of the armor as of the current version. There was too much unmanageable clipping, and now the vault suit can be worn with other custom glove mods.
The Creation Kit can be downloaded from the Bethesda website. Download this mod manually and place the meshes folder in your Fallout 4>Data folder. Open Creation Kit and load the Fallout4.esm base game. On the left hand side of the screen is a small search bar where you can type in “vaultsuit” and all the base game vault suits will appear. You can double click the vault suit underarmor you want to replace and see its stats and meshes used for male and female bodies. Click on the mesh button and change the mesh to the one you downloaded from this mod and placed in your Data folder. Save the mod and give it a name.esp. Activate mod and now your vault suit underarmor is replaced with the vault suit from this mod.
Tools for editing .nif files include bodyslide and nifskope. Detailed instructions for using this tools can be found on YouTube or through Google searches.
Okay so hearing about the gloves, I've decided to just go for the boots to add, it looks nice really love it as a replacer. But, any chance you'd add a dif new pair of gloves that has little to no clipping? No biggie, I could just use gloves from the Cross mods. Also, is there a way to make the boots symmetrical?

And I could swear I had Piper comment on the suit as well, during the first interview (while I was wearing the rugged version).
