Yeah, I crash within seconds of opening the game when this is enabled, and its kinda sad because the XP from companion kills definitely needs improvement
I wonder if you can add a perk / spell with an invisible ON HIT effect that adds player damage - Damage 0 - to companions - So when your companions attack hostiles they get instant tagged for exp - With the 0 damage done by player mod - sometimes companions kill enemies that are out of site
im running 20 % exp mod atm, probably will dump it to 15 or 10 % later today
This mod, while great in concept has a lot of serious flaws:
1. Gives XP for *any* kill even remotely near you, even if it was two different enemies fighting. This is especially bad in big battles with a faction where every enemy death will give XP that neither you or your companion earned. 2. Causes really annoying pain screams to enemies and sometimes allies upon entering zones, as they are technically being damaged by the modified aura spell that this mod uses to achieve damage on all enemies. 3. This 0.01 damage completely breaks 'Instigating' legendary effects, as no enemy will ever be on full HP. 4. This damage can randomly cause friendly targets to become hostile. 5. This damage can break quests like the very 1st BoS quest, by targeting Scribe Haylen and instantly downing her and keeping her in a downed state. The solution it to disable and then enable her in the console, but you really shouldn't have to do this.
All together a very roughly cobbled together mod, and one that is much more hassle than it's worth. If you want it to be easier to get XP with a companion, then just tweak the game settings in FO4Edit yourself, or use a mod like this that doesn't use hacky means of achieving its goals.
Thanks for this. Its been a part of my load order for years. I was wondering if you may make the same mod for Fallout 3? The "Follower XP" mod crashes my game when I have more than one follower and the "Companions don't steal xp" mod requires you to hit the enemy once to gain exp from follower kills.
i fiddled with the flags on the aura spell that marks targets for xp on kill. Turned on "Painless" so they dont make grunting noises... tried toggling Hostile and Detrimental, they both disable the XP. :c
This makes the game harder for me and i welcome it! Much of my combat power comes from items. Enemies scale with my level not how good my gear is. Therefore, having my follower kill stuff alone is enough to make me overpowered. This means, by default, companions make the game easier in combat, leveling, and by carrying stuff, making lone wanderer specs completely underpowered.
