This is much closer to how I expect power armor to sound. To be honest, the vanilla sound is a lot closer to a full suit of Skyrim plate armor than anything servo-operated.
I like your cute little lore explanation, lol. "Just a little grease!" It kinda makes sense though, since all these suits would've been just sitting around for hundreds of years, rusting up, no oil, no lube, no grease, it'd be a wonder half of them move smoothly at all.
And after a little TLC, voila! It sounds sexy again. Well done.
