Fallout 4's booze isn't terribly interesting. As the effects go, it's all functionally identical, with hard vodka being basically the same as a suspiciously-unlabeled bottle of random beer. (Is it even beer? That could be some raider's urine bottle, for all you know.) Even melee characters, who have the most motivation to get every STR boost they can get, are likely dissuaded by such a paltry damage boost. Plus, booze barely lasts any time at all; shotgunning an entire bottle of Whiskey only gets you drunk for three minutes. Maybe that makes sense if you're boozing up for a single Charisma check, but that booze wears off ridiculously quick all the same. If you want to play an alcoholic, a sloshed socialite, or a hard-drinking noir detective, you're going through a LOT OF BOOZE just for the sake of characterization.

I set out to fix this, with one goal in mind: Make Boozes Better.

What's your poison, friend?

Are you a Bourbon man, a gruff noir Detective that stalks the streets of Boston with a snubnose 44, hunting for your quarry? You'll need Perception to spot the clues left behind and nail that perfect shot. (STR +2, PER +2, INT -2)

Or maybe you're a Rum sorta fellow, the kind that engages in all manner of piratical shenanigans and takes swigs between swings of your cutlass? You'll need to be Lucky to dodge those musket shots and find your loot. (STR +2, INT -2, LUCK +2)

Or maybe you're a Whiskey guy, from out west, a rough-and-tumble Cowboy with a fondness for the classics. All you'll need is your Strength and Charisma to see you through the next showdown, pardner. (STR +2, CHA +2, INT -2)

Maybe you're no stranger to Radioactive wastelands, and Vodka's your drink of choice in this particular Zone. You'll need Endurance to fight past the rads, raiders and mutants, Stalker. (STR +2, END +2, INT -2)

Maybe a glass of Wine, to suit your refined tastes? Perfect for sipping in polite company, and loosening lips or cutting deals. You'll need Charisma to convince people, but while delicate hands are perfect for holding wine glasses, that makes them less suitable for wielding cudgels... (STR -1, CHA +2, INT -1)

What if you're a twitchy raider, fast to start a fight and even faster on your feet? Then Nuka-Dark's the drink for you, druggie. You'll need Agility to stay on your toes, and escape from every bad situation you find yourself tangled in. (STR +2, INT -2, AGI +2)

What if you're just visiting Boston as a tourist, to try out the local microbrews? There's a wide variety of Beer to sample all around, from Ale to Stout. Though really, once you've had one Gwinnett , you've had them all... (STR +1, CHA +1, INT -1)

Drink up!

OTHER FEATURES

Rad flushing and Rad Resistance: Not just Vodka! All alcohol and alcoholic mixes now help eliminate rads from your system. Alcohol is a natural diuretic, but we'll fudge the numbers a little bit for convenience. In addition, even after those rads are gone, the booze lingering in your system will keep you safe from more rads by inferring additional Rad Resistance. (Values vary by specific beverage.)

Reworked Values: Vodka has literally the same value as dirty river water? What? (Both five caps!) Not any more, as all beverages have had their values reworked. Merchants are a bit more stingy about selling their well-aged 200-year-old Bourbon and Wine, but that means those same merchants will be willing to pay a lot more for such a rare flavor. Even if you don't plan on imbibing, you can bet others will, and you can make yourself a tidy sum of caps by catering to them. (In addition, chilling your alcohol to be ice cold is interesting for novelty value, so people will pay a little bit more for the service in this age of lukewarm beer being the standard.)

Reworked Durations: Now, when you get drunk, you are DRUNK for a good while. The weakest beers will keep you happy for about five minutes, while a hard drunk like Rum will have you staggering for forty minutes! Booze now becomes an investment; do you want to boost your stat of choice to hit harder and play more to your character, at risk of clouding your highest brain functions? And if you do want to roleplay as a sloshed drunkard, you can slur through your dialogue for ten times as long! This also applies to Rad Resistance, keeping your DNA safe for even longer periods.

Party Boy/Party Girl reworks: You're still the life of the party, though it's a little different now! Rank 1 now allows you to heal by consuming alcoholic beverages, while Rank 2 increases your Luck by three when consuming Alcoholic beverages of ANY type. (Luck be on your side, matey!) Rank 3 now prevents alcoholic addiction of any kind, sparing you the headache of debuffs when you're not sloshed... But it won't spare you from the hangover in the morning!

Mixed drinks: Whether you want to try out the classic Dirty Wastelander, or mix your own Nuka-Cide over in Nuka-World, every mixed drink now inherits effects from the alcoholic beverages used to craft it, as well as adding their own to give each new mix a splash of character! We've also wrangled Bethesda into sitting through a lesson about conservation of mass and volume, so mixing five drinks together now results in creating five drinks of equal portions. (No more wasting two Nuka-Darks and one Nuka-Cola for a single bottle of Nuka-Power!)

Misc Tweaks and Beverage Bugfixes: Poisoned Wine is now actually harmful to consume! Nuka-Void has new, otherworldly effects! Nuka-Hearty increases Max HP by 150! All alcoholic beverages now receive their full bonus from Live and Love, and have drinking, pickup, and drop sounds! Nuka-Cide is now actual suicide to drink, at least for the unprepared!

Specific details about each beverage's effects and changes can be found here!

(Created using the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch. I also recommend playing with my other mod, Wasteland Hydration! Or perhaps you'd prefer the same concept, but back in New Vegas? Also, if you're enjoying my work, how about tossing a few bucks into my Ko-Fi?)
