When I first visited Nordhagen Beach, I decided I wanted to create a settlement that would combine its origins as a farm with its seaside beauty. Hence the Nordhagen Boardwalk, an elevated array of shops and services, with housing on the upper floors. It contains a Vault-Tec themed General store, an open-air gym with a view of the ocean, a well stocked medical center, an elaborate garage with multiple bathrooms, a stunning long greenhouse nestled by a Brahmin field, a beach recreation area for fishing and grilling, and a guard station that overarches the main entryway--among other things.
I often try to preserve a lot of the original settlement when I'm building, but in this case, there wasn't a lot to go on. Apologies, while it is created only with vanilla items from the base game and DLC, it's not meant to look like a scuzzy slapped-together settlement but rather, the effort of thoughtful community planning.
And yes, this mod is 100% vanilla. When I set out to make my mega settlements, I wanted to be sure that anyone who saw them could recreate the settlements themselves using only what's available in the game. I felt that doing so better reflected the resourcefulness of a post-apocalyptic era, but also, I wanted the settlements to be accessible. If you're on console or simply dislike using mods when you could build it yourself, have at it. I used no special tools to achieve the buildings and decor in these spaces. If you see it, you can do it.
Of course, for this mod, you will need to uses F4SE, HUD Framework, and the Transfer Settlements mod. Detailed instructions on how to use them are included on the Transfer Settlements page.
