I wonder how hard it would be to turn this into a smaller throwable weapon that has a chance of turning human enemies into ghouls and giving the player rads

This was a momentous moment in both history and science, and such a cool idea for a mod! I love the screwdriver sticking out of it; don't let it fall out!!

Baader meinhof phenomenon. It's also known as "frequency illusion".

The physicists were Harry Daghlian and Louis Slotin, they were both killed by acute radiation poisoning within 25 and 9 days respectively, both after performing experiments on the core. Slotin was the guy with the Screwdriver, while Daghlian let a tungsten-carbide neutron reflector fall onto the core. A security guard who was present during Daghlian's experiement, Private Robert J. Hemmerly, also received a heavy dose of radiation. Although he died 33 years later of leukemia.

The experiment with the screwdriver was especially stupid. Enrico Fermi even warned Slotin that he would be "dead within a year" if he continued experimenting in such a reckless manner. Feynman compared the experiments to "tickling the tail of a sleeping dragon".

That's a scary sphere right there, a flesh melting light if you slip with the screwdriver.
