Yes, you can either install this mod OR edit your Fallout4Custom.INI in the way that I've described in the description. However, this mod does use an empty light-plugin to apply the INI setting, so it's not going to contribute to your load order, or do anything else to your game.
Personally I recommend that you use the FOMOD installer to help you pick a colour and transparency that you like, and then add the setting to your Fallout4Custom.INI once you've settled on something.
Has worked very well for me for years, install the esp, choose colour and opacity, copy the hex from the generated .ini, add it to the iConsoleSelectedRefColor line in fallout4custom.ini, don't need the .esp after that, never had a problem until a few weeks ago, when, for reasons that still elude me, it mysteriously stopped working, and has not worked since. Finally sort of fixed, but only by converting the hex to decimal, as copying the hex just won't work at all now, and the alpha setting is always maxed out, but that I can live with.
why the f*#@ isin't there a mod like this for Skyrim!? or hell as many Bethesda games as possible? I can't tell you how many times I want to disable one conflicting mesh and have to do the whole disable enable *scroll* disable enable *scroll* this is a fricken godsend
Like a lot of other people, I can't seem to change the alpha setting, so it's always maxed out. But honestly, compared to much easier this makes using the dev console, 100% alpha is a really small price to pay.
Using the mod to generate a ini setting but copying it to the FO4 custom ini just changes the highlight color transparency/alpha remains maxed out. Is there an ini setting for that?
Great mod thank you! Unfortunately the transparency doesn't seem to change in the FOMOD, it's always at 100%. Can anyone help me out? I was really hoping for 25%
I apologise for responding so late, but you might want to try manually installing the mod if you have troubles with the installer. The folder structure should hopefully be fairly self explanatory, though do let me know if you encounter any problems.
This is amazing! So many times I've clicked on an npc right in front of me and some other number came up in the console. 50 magenta forever for me. Thanks for sharing this!

i Console Selected Ref Color = 0x 66 FF 00 FF
Remove the spaces. The spaces are to stop the web page from reading the text as code and replacing it with
iCjavascript-event-stripped
So I had a long pause from FO4.
And then I wanted to mark a thingy I can't see.
I done it before, a lot.
But, I totally have forgot the command
ref id don't high-lite .... what is the command ?
