Normally I don't care for "cool rare/prototype gun" mods. Generally speaking, those rare guns are rare for a good reason, such as not working, not being economically viable, being a technological dead end that was surpassed by more conventional designs, etc. So no Pancor Jackhammers or HK G-11s for me.
This, however, I like. The EM-2 had issues, but there's a decent chance they would have been worked out with further development had the Brits not decided to go with the FAL for standardization instead. I could see this being a plausible thing in the alternate history of Fallout. Maybe it got adopted as the British service rifle, and found its way onto the surplus market in the US when it was replaced down the line. Or maybe it was the weapon of a British Expeditionary Force deployed to assist US forces in Alaska. Or whatever.
It's also an interesting weapon that's not a shitty pop culture/video game gun like the Desert Eagle, which is also nice.
The Brits or Belgium's didn't opt for the SLR. It was a Nato choice pushed by the silly yanks which in hindsight was a very stupid mistake because this gun had no problems what so ever and it was light years ahead of anything else. Typical arrogance made this gun not be a thing.
To be fair about the Deagle, G11, and Jackhammer, those were all in prior Fallout games, in the Deagle's case from the very first game...where it was basically just one step above the starting 10 mm Colt 6520 in lethality, making it the third-worst pistol in the game ahead of the aforementioned 10 mm and the unique 9 mm Mauser you could get off of Gizmo's body in Junktown.
And I suppose that in the Fallout timeline, the EM-2 was adopted as the UK's service rifle, and that an upgraded prototype, under the designation XL70, was seeing combat trials and limited production by the time of the Great War.
The US insisted that NATO go for full power rifle ammunition. Prototypes of the EM2 were made in 7.62mm NATO but it was really too much for the design so when the FN FAL was re engineered to use 7.62mm The British adopted it on the understanding the US would do so as well, a sort of agreement that NATO would adopt US ammunition and a European rifle. The Americans of course had other ideas and adopted the M14 and so the idea of a standard NATO rifle died. History tells us the Americans were wrong about 7.62mm NATO and the M14.
@tomalong To be fair to the American's it was more or less just the Ordinance Dept that was actually at fault for this and they continued to be right through to the adoption of the M16 and its many problems.
Hey, what's up with the third person animations? The gun suddenly goes up whenever you use it. It still hits, it's just weird. It's as if they have the biggest recoil, but you fix it very fast.
Not game-breaking, but there's a really weird first person visual glitch whenever a Stealth Boy is active. There appears to be part of the gun at the top of the screen, along with a spare magazine on the left side. Note the red arrows and the light distortions.
Actually one of the most disappointing mods for me. The gun looks SPECTACULAR and fits perfectly into the Fallout 4 aesthetic, looking wonderfully retro-futuristic, striking a good balance between new Fallouts' cartoonish and old Fallout's realistic styles. And yet, the balancing and modifications suck pretty hard. My main issue is that changing the firing mode from auto to semi-auto doesn't affect damage. As a result, there's NO reason to go semi-auto, especially considering how low the damage is for a .308 gun. Also, no recievers (great idea, but it would only work if there were no reciever upgrades in the entire game) This mod is actually the reason why i started to be sceptical about FOLON. I really hope they fix the balancing when including the weapon
Great to see a more obscure weapon, especially hailing from my homeland, plus I think this rifle works great for the retro futuristic aesthetic of fallout great work as always!
What a beautiful and nicely operating weapon! It really has the appearance of belonging in Fallout world. I edited the .308 damage up a bit to near the level of the HK G3 mod I also have in game. Thanks for this wonderful weapon mod!
Here you go: Tactical Reload Repository - Diacute'd This patch can also be adopted to Sayaheca's Walther WA2000 - as it uses the EM2 animations. Just did that yesterday, took less that 5 minutes tops. Works perfect.
