Like the idea about this except the diminishing returns part. Crude tools dont diminish your ability to reduce ammo into completely useable components. You can take ammo apart with a pocket knife. Now what you cant do is make a .50 cal round with .38 components.i suppose what you are doing with diminishing returns is about all you can do with how the game mechanics work. So thanks for this. Ill add it to my load order. Never made sense to me to sell ammo so I could buy lead, copper and fertilizer lol.
Breaking down ammo to craft different ammo - it only makes sense if the scale is proportionate. I'd never do that to make ammo I go through regularly - it's too time consuming a process. I'd do that if I was handloading sniper ammo, or maybe a Revolver load. Beyond that the scale tips to the side of using the economy the game offers to craft the ammo in bulk I need. Shipments of Lead, Copper and Fertilizer, and I'd use the ammo I will never use to help pay for that.
I honestly don't know, it's like that from the base game, because I sure didn't put that in intentionally.
Edit: This mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/33759 let's you disable crafting xp, buuuuut it also comes with a lot of extra stuff you might not want, sorry if you find it unhelpful.
I like the thought of this mod, following the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid), so endorsements up. I have 2 suggestions, one a KISS and the other contrary to me a complication. First, I think it would be awesome to use a Vortex/NMM download just because it helps keep all my mods in one place, but that's a *me* thing, not a demand from you. Second, if you were up to it, I think it would be awesome if the default was the 'hard' mode which then improved based on the characters scaling levels of Gun Nut and/or Scavenger. That would make it feel more 'world' friendly, but again, just a thought. And may well be more work that it's worth.
Those are actually not bad ideas, the mod manager thing I'll admit I could have done in a few minutes had I even tried to understand it, the scaling thing would be a 4th option that I might add eventually when I'm not feeling lazy. Thank you very very much for the support.
Thank you! I just don't know what kind of materials (or amount of components) I could justify to use in each ammo type, may I suggest this mod as an alternative? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3851/
