thank you for endorsements and feedback! i did some manual work on the ivy leaves to customize this texture and the normal map for 4k resolution. because this texture is used as an atlas the 4k resolution is essential in my opinion and will deliver more than a blurry mess of leaves. the 2k version should still be crisper than many other offered solutions.
you will never see my vanilla compatible high res textures if you use a mod with vanilla incompatible ivy meshes ! use vanilla settings or compatible ones. all other solutions have to be done on your own risk and manually!
if you encounter distorted ivy textures please check if complex parallax is activated. it seems the ivy mesh (and probably some other meshes in the game) is not compatible.
mar 2024 - let me now if the enb update for parallax works.thanks! it seems not to work as intended - deleted :/ i do not use parallax.
02 aug 2022 - no ivy option added (full transparent small textures used)
07 nov 2021 - white version added for winter overhauls
29 mar 2021 - added two new options: "green only" and "lesser green more red brownish tint"
thanks for any endorsement if you like the texture or you decide to use it. this would be a very useful feedback for me for future projects. thank you!
works also very nice with boston natural surroundings and "a forest"
So i guess this is the parallax problem you were talking about before?
Have you found another solution than turning off the complex parallax yet? and can you tell me how i can change the colors to a little bit more brownish/olive? i tried to to open the files with my old cs2 Photoshop and the .dds pluggin, but it won't work.
the parallax porblem is is no dds texture problem. it is a mesh problem. some meshes are simplified in a way hat they do not work with complex parallax. the only two solutions: switch this setting to off or exchange the mesh.
I'm trying various fixes to get the parallax working. It's painful for me to let such a beautiful mod go because parallax improves the game far more than ivy/vines can. but these ivy/vines are 20x better than its runner up. These are hands down the best ivy/vines offered for the fallout series. For me, the parallax problem must be solved.
I'm just using a standard ENB, with various parallax texture packs from the nexus. IF I must figure out how to create my own parallax for your _n textures, I shall. but at the moment my 700 mod build list doesn't have time to focus on these ivy/vines. I will do it once I get some other mechanics fixed.
Installing and deleting an enb is very simple. It's never gamebreaking. Just move some files into your fallout 4 folder and if you don't like them, delete them. Easy. Highly configurable.
ok, i installed the 5.01 enb and see what you mean. i will have a look at it. i found this in enb forum: Skyrim SE (ENB v0488): Severe texture distortion on various meshes using Complex Parallax Thanks for detailed report, but this is not bug of parallax, it's how effect works in general for any game. Problem happens because those meshes have no enough polygons on edges, so their normals get interpolated between different polygons planes. Only changes to meshes (using Bevel tool f.e.) solve this issue.
so it seems a known mesh related problem. i hope this helps you.
at least we know why texture changes will not work. a mesh change is a complete other story and not part of my mod. since i installed enb i will use it. switching off complex parallax instantly solved the distortion problem for me.
this is also a problem with skyrim textures/meshes and community shaders
Hello, thanks for this mod, it's very nice to play with it, But for me, your update for the enb parallax don't work. i need to put the parallax on false in my enbseries.ini to use your mod.
thanks for the info. i did some research. the problem are some complex parallax incompatiblefo4 meshes. this is no texture mod related problem. disabling complex parallax in the enbseries.ini solves the distortion problem.
use one of the main file packs at a time and place it the way it gets not overwritten by other mods. you can install the mod manually in the data folder after unzipping it (not recommended) or use modorganizer 2 (recommended) or vortex.
Is there any way that you could update your textures so that they work with ENB parallax? Your textures look blurry/smeared when moving with ENB complex parallax enabled. I believe this has to do with your normal maps. Boris can provide more guidance on his discord.
i do not use enb anymore. sorry. maybe boris can help you with that. but i use parallax settings with some mods and it works for me and with my mod. the effect you describe is common if you use complex enb parallax. i hope you can find a solution or help for your problem. if you think it is worth it and if you found a definitive solution you may contact me again. thanks!
So, the issue is that the height is incorrect. the _s file needs to be adjusted to make ensure that it's compatible with enb. There's a detailed explanation here:
It should be relatively simple to adjust via something like Photoshop. I'd do it, except I do not have PS on my current machine. Would love it if you could adjust this. Thanks!
E: Please let me know if you do not plan to fix this. If so, I'll see if I can't solve the issue.
Specular maps needs the blue channel to be emptied. One can do this with gimp, propably with paint.net or download icestormg's toolbox from their patreon. No subscription needed. Here's the ones I touched up from the red 4k version, just the speculars and dropped them to 2k. I did the same to a friend of mine and they worked fine after iirc. Here's what those look in my game after editing:
Oh, and what came up from another source that I completely forgot about myself, the basics are usually the simplest solutions, is if you save the speculars as BC5, this issue should correct itself.
why not? not my taste but i will upload a lightweight remover option for the ivy leaves i address in my mod. it will not affect meshes and previs/precombines.
I LOVE your ivy remove mod!! Your other ones look really good as well and I am sure I will end up trying "Only Green" but for now no ivy has made my world a little bit better place. Thank you!
i have a problem though. i'm not sure this is actually caused by your mod. i suspect it's caused by DECENT ENB (maybe in conjunction with your mod)?! i'm getting weird bright dots on the vine textures. i'm not 100% sure if they appear after installing the enb, but yeah... weird thing is they persist when disabling your mod AND after deleting the enb, which makes me think even more that it's not your mod.
i'm wondering if you or anybody has stumbled upon this issue? is it caused by some leftover files created by the enb? could it be that your mod overwrites some files and doesn't revert those after disabling? (i know some mods don't clear out all their files when uninstalling like nest survival shelters.) this is driving me crazy!
edit: disabling true grass fixed it. WHY DOES THAT HAPPEN THOUGH? i could've sworn it was fine before the enb... can anyone recommend another greenery mod?
thanks for feedback. i do not use enb anymore. it was ok but with my settings performance suffered too much. i use only a few reshade shaders and my game looks good. there are some side effects using enb i had also problems with. cloud and some other objects not with the correct brightness for example. in my game i have not such an effect you describe. some times also the mesh configuration is non standard and may lead to unwanted glow effects.

don't forget to watch my jamie preset, my natural teeth mod and my other mods here in the user files section of my profile.
