Better Locational Damage - Robot Edition

Do you enjoy Zzyxzz's Better Locational Damage? Or at the very least, his "Ghoul Edition" on its own? Do you wish robots also were leveled up? Do you find it odd that blowing a robot's arm up causes it to just die like it was some sort of squishy organic being? Do you find it odd that robots that have been wandering around 200 years can go down with a few pipe pistol shots? Want Sentry Bots to be the monstrous machines they were meant to be?

This mod is for you.

This "unofficial" addition to Zzyxzz's "Better Locational Damage" does to robots what "Ghoul Edition" does for ghouls, but much differently.

  • Robots now operate on a sort of "Mechwarrior" type system: Robots no longer take health damage simply by shooting at their arms, legs, and head. They only take damage if you shoot at the torso (where the reactor is). However, doing so will still cripple them, and blowing their arms off will still cause them to self-destruct. In some cases, it may actually be MORE beneficial to destroy their limbs than it is to destroy the core itself.
  • Affects Protectrons, Handies/Gutsies, Assaultrons, Robobrains, Sentries, and (Gen 1/2) Synths.
  • Robots are tougher to destroy in general. After all, they've been operational for over 200 years in most cases, a raider with a pipe pistol or the stray molerat isn't going to do much to them.
    • Protectrons and Handies/Gutsies are still bottom of the barrel, but are still tougher than they are in vanilla. You will find it rather difficult to destroy one with a pipe pistol.
    • Assaultrons are military-grade melee robots. You'll need concentrated fire to take one down.
    • Robobrains are very strong enemies now.
    • Sentry Bots are almost deathclaw-tier level threats.
    • Synths are a bit stronger than protectrons, but FAR weaker than assaultrons. Keep in mind that they also love to travel in packs. You'll quickly see why the commonwealth farmers fear these things so much.
    • (Capital Wasteland Robots patch) : Classic Protectrons and Gutsies/Handies have the same protection of the above. Securitrons have the same protections as a Robobrain (this was how their stats were in NV)
(Keep in mind that in the case of Automatron Robots, a robot's "race" is determined by their legs, NOT by their torsos. A Robot that has a protectron head, a robobrain body, assaultron arms, and sentry bot legs counts as a sentry bot, not as a robobrain or protectron. I know this is weird, but that's something hard-coded into vanilla, there's nothing I can do about this sadly.)
  • Pulse Grenades/Mines and the Lightning Gun are more effective against robots now.
  • Just to make sure Automatron isn't a complete nightmare, Rust Devil and Mechanist robots take a bit more damage.

I recommend you run this with my other mod, Automatron Randomized Bots, as well as the aformentioned "Better Locational Damage" mod. Neither are necessary, however.

FAQ:
  • "What about Turrets, Eyebots, and Vertibirds? Are those effected too?"
No. They are not affected. Turrets and Eyebots are too weak to be worth the bother. As for Vertibirds, that has its own mod I just released, Better Vertibirds - A Vertibird Overhaul.
  • "Are the robots I create affected too?"
Yes, yes they are. Keep in mind that as mentioned above, a robot's race (and therefore the amount of protection they get) is determined by their LEGS, not by their torso.
  • "Why do I need Far Harbor?"
Because Far Harbor has its own version of the Robobrain race.
  • "Can I use this without Better Locational Damage?"
Yes, you can. While it is meant to compliment that mod, just like that mod's "Ghoul Edition," this mod can be used stand alone, so you can use it with something like Unbogus if you wish, or just by itself.
  • "Are there any scripts?"
Nope. No scripts. It runs on perks, body type modifications, and magic effects. NO SCRIPTS.
  • "Load Order?"
On the bottom. It's a ES(L)P, so it will not take up ESP space. Just a bare minimum of ESL space.
  • "Can I port this to Xbox/PS4/Beth.net?"
Yes, you can. I do not care. Keep in mind that if I do update this, you are responsible for keeping it updated.
  • (Zzyxzz only) "Can I include this in the main Better Locational Damage as an addon?"
    Yes, you can.
