Npc's still take vertibirds down fairly easily but it takes me 10 mini nukes to take one down now and even then sometimes it won't crash and still fires at me with nobody on board.
Unless it changes AbVertibirdRace [SPEL:001125E1] (no mods do)
I've always used and tweaked Tougher Vertibirds. It conflicts. It edits the spell. lol. But now I don't know which one to use! lol. They're both flagged as an ESL, so they won't take up a load order slot, but I don't know which one is better. I've increased the damage threshold on Tougher Vertibirds to 70, so if my understanding is correct, anything that does under 70 damage won't damage the vertibird. But I'm not 100% on that. Choices, choices.
thx for mod, when trying to destroy the engine part it was destroyed fairly quickly with a assault rifle and each engine with only 3 shots from gauss, which is ok becoz its strong, but barely scratched with 10mm pistol as expected, but shooting it with aprox. 10 missiles barely scratched it, even though explosives in the description says they are weak to them. in fact hitting it anywhere with a missile did practically nothing, i have missiles with much more than vanilla damage as well so curious if this is bug or not?
edit: for ref- after few more vbird fights the missiles do extremely small damage no matter where they hit, even after fully crippling everything but the wings it still flew and only destroying both wings would it come down, which im ok with just that missiles do so littel damage it seems off that an assault rifle and /or minigun could do it better, still took alot of rounds which i liked but they were faster at bringing it down than missile hits by alot, but only if i hit the wings and crippled them both, gauss (and id assume 50cal sniper) did much better with around 5 or 6 shots. no conflicts in fo4edit this was shooting at an enclave vbird spawned from endless warfare mentioned in description
also, are vertibirds that the player rides in a different vbird than ones player is not riding in? coz when im in one they seem much weaker than the ones i fight from the ground, when i exit and they join the fight they seem to be normal toughness again. specifically curious about the one you ride to fort strong for an early bos quest, even using this mod and putting around 10k hp on the vbird they still destroyed it in seconds and i cant figure out why. any info is appreciated
A lot of mod authors try to do this but with mixed success. I still wind up knocking their precious birds around like tennis balls. But yours, oh no they’re actually durable! Plus I think that invincible bug is fixed because not a single bird had that happen during the BoS assault on the Caste
I can't quite remember but I think the reason why vertibirds do zero damage with front guns is because of some quest that has a vertibird front firing at something the player has to do or a place the player has to go soon after?
Has anyone ever made a mod to personally fly a vertibird? The companion would get the side gun position during combat and get in the front seat afterwards unless they were in power armor then they would just stay on the gun position. I really don't understand why the player can't fly their own vertibird and park it when not in use too. Be able to press a button and shut it off and fold up the propeller blades and wings.
I use the VTO redux mod and it is great but it doesn't actually fly instead it just fast travels with fancy sound effects.
Fallout 4 game engine is no/has no flight sim capabilities as I understand it.
You can kind of 'drive' cars with all those car mods but you might notice thre's no physical effects on the cars (i.e. g-forces, momentum, suspension) and so on... Just like there's none of that stuff to properly pilot a vertibird. Properly meaning like in an actual flight sim.
Fallout 3 however has a few of them still in the nexus I believe! :-0
Somebody actually WROTE/CODED a flight sim physics engine for Fallout 3. Geez louise, I wonder what that dude is up to now?
Wish I could really afford it, I'd pay that dude for a year to write that for FO4! LOL xD
YES YES YOOU can fly it, YOU can designate who to sit in Copilot and WHo to operate the minigun and a merry HO HO HOLE lot more! https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47187?tab=description&BH=4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO17d11sXfo Sorry for super late response, like seriously it took forever. But yeah, it basically exists. Happens often with the minigun when you have it with with the heavy weapons perk that allows it to stagger enemies. It's also listed on the list of bugs on the wiki. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Vertibird_(Fallout_4) I suggest looking at other mods to implement a perk to make vertibirds immune to stagger and thus fixing this glitch. I recommend looking at the "be exceptional" mod since that adds a perk that reliably makes you immune to stagger when you take it. Other stagger mods I found aren't very reliable from what I've tested.
Yeah don't sweat it, dude, people are just busy. No worries.
But thanks for the heads up, I did not know any of this stuff or maybe I forgot but I certainly don't remember using staggering weapons on vertibirds before so I guess I just missed this.
Had to take your kudos virginity for that bit of information, cheers! LOL xD

Not sure if that's happened for me though. Will have to keep an eye out.
