Hey everyone. My hard drive failed on me so right now the update has halted. Getting a new ssd Thursday so for those following still ill upload a new update then. Itll have loot youd get from fallout 76 and add season pass creatures. Stay tuned for that also do you all think 5 nuclear material is too much? Might tone it down to 1 material.
I love this mod. the only thing I'd want or hope to see added in the future is more meat off of slain animals. I hate killing a yao guai and only getting one meat(or two with the survival book)
For my tuppence worth (and regardless, i appreciate what you have done, as it has given me an .esp to play around with and adjust to my liking!) the loot drops 'should' be what you could realistically butcher within a few minutes...which unfortunately flies in the face of the whole loot and scoot way the game works. So in an ideal world, I would limit looting to a single piece of the creatures hide (or gland/proboscis etc..a crafting component by whatever name) and a single item of meat, and we would have to commit say an hour to get bonus loot, such as junk items...'stomach contents' or more exotic body parts. (I say ideally because I'd prefer the game looting to be similar...grab ammo and loose items from a corpse, but stripping the clothes and armour should take longer than 'Take All')....but as this would mean a lot of work on the looting system, I've used your .esp as a basis, and just removed any junk and weapon/armour drops...to simply limit me to a brief 'butchering session...I don't see my character slicing open monsters to examine the contents of their stomach.
While I do respect your opinion lonewanderer345, I disagree with "loot drops 'should' be what you could realistically butcher within a few minutes." Remember, you just woke up in a place where everyone else is dead including your spouse. If you looked at the terminals a major concern was food. The overseer was demanding food from the workers. If you recall there was not a lot of food left in the vault.
Next, you are fighting creatures (roaches) the size you have never seen and you literally have no idea where your next meal will come from. You learn a major factor for the mutiny the overseer was afraid of. You leave the vault and you see you are in a world you do not recognize, You fight more giant roaches and now giant flies and what do they drop? Food! Now, a major beef I have (pun intended) is that a (at best) 30 lbs roach and a 50lbs bloatfly drops the same amount of meat as a 1500-3500 lbs brahmin ? A 2-5 ton Deathclaw? 5 pieces of meat from a Mirelurk Queen (I mean I know you shouldn't ask a lady's weight but...) Really? Come on!
Even if you never worked in a slaughter house, you know cattle provide more meat than just one steak and you do not need to be a butcher to get it. What I think should happen is the more raw meat you carry, the greater the chance, the size of and number of meat eating animals/ghouls will track you down to get your meat (no pun intended this time). This could mean coming up with more damage resistant animals added to the game. Hmm (new mod idea). I agree that bugs that can carry a piece of combat armor or Gauss Rifle is silly but, a veterinarian surgeon will tell you, you can find coins, pieces of rugs, couches sponges and stuff like that in dogs all the time. (ask a German Sheppard or pit bull owner. what happens when their dogs gets bored). Animals in the wild are also known to have interesting stomach contents. I understand game balance but if you are hard core about it, you can always leave items behind just as a person can develop some skill and learn to make their own mods.I'll be keeping tabs and hopes on this one.
Mods I think give more realistic drops. More f**n meat https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6629 Realistic Meat Drop For Survival Mode https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12721 Need Meat - Remasteredhttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14509
Like the song goes "Give me more, give me more. I would say however that 5 nuclear material is a bit much for a person. 6 for a glowing behemoth/glowing mirelurk queens. 5 for glowing death claws, 4 for glowing super mutants, 3 for glowing ghouls and, 2 for glowing insects.
Thank you lonewanderer345 for your thoughts and an excuse to practice my typing.
Thank you AdrianValistar for the mod and a forum I can use to bore people beside my family during lock down.
Take care everyone and remember to have some fun today.
I can attest to the above. Worked in a Meat Packing Plant. Only in the packaging side but we could easily go through 2 full cows in an hour. Faster if we had more than two Butchers working. I will admit that some of these drops seem a little strange. Looking at you Egg Drops.
Don't disagree with either of you,...but neither of you are addressing what I actually said.
In-game you spend maybe 2 minutes at 20:1 timescale....my suggestion was that loot drops should be based on that time, and that this mod was being over-generous with what I could realistically harvest in that time...meat, skin, teeth, etc.
There is another meat harvesting mod now that adds realism the other way, you get a fade to black screen and anything up to 90 minutes passes while you collect say 15 deathclaw meat from a carcass, must have a knife or such on you, and gain skill the more you harvest... (The meat drops from that provides a great realism experience, but also makes survival mode way to easy, so it isn't balanced either...in the end we need to make our own choice or edits depending on how we wish to balance realism and game difficulty).
I tried both those mods, but I'm still running with 'Fallout 4 Loot Overhaul', as it provides a strict, unrealistic, but balanced set of meat loot tables for the hard survival game I choose to play.
Thank God someone has finally decided to do this, it always irked the s#*! out of me to get weapons and armor from creature kills. Tracking this mod for future updates.
Thanks. I am sorry I havent gotten around to an update. I had a hard drive failure so right now I am waiting on a new ssd to arrive. Should arrive Thursday though. I am going to release a new version that adds the loot from 76 yoh get from creature kills. Like acid from cave crickets, yaogui springs and deathclaw gears. And yeah im working on adding a season pass version.
Sure, and why would you. After you blow up a raider into small chunks of meat, and still find usable clothes, weapons, armor, ect., ect,... I like grabbing loot off of dead things I've killed, but loot should not be usable after an explosive encounter. Scraps and bits and pieces, if you want to make it immersible, you would think twice about grabbing the long johns off of a raider that has been blown into bite size chunks. Think of that.
okay I am also updating this mod frequently. I'm about to increase molerat teeth to 4 and remove the extra 5 nuclear material that comes off glowing ones.
This is just a thought, but, wouldn't animals like the deathclaw have meat from the other animals they have killed and eaten? Like radstag, brahmin etc and less junk items? Just food for thought.
But..would you want to collect the stomach contents? What would you do with part digested meat...I guess maybe an overhaul like Horizon has rotten forms of meat that could be looted to use as farm fertiliser? (personally I think same applies to junk, weapons & armour...I wouldn't use or trust some crap I hauled out of some critter's guts...but it's a funny old game that stews a rifle in gut juices for a month and it comes out Legendary sometimes, LOL).
Really nice mod idea, I suspect that there are some pitfalls to avoid while implementing this in the Creation Kit though.
I suggest avoiding scripts and to thoroughly test before release.
From my memories of two thorough play-throughs of Fallout 4 I noticed inventories for:
- Creatures having caps - Creatures having misc junk - Creatures having weapons - Creatures having food items on them - Creatures having armour items on them
Well some creatures should definitely not have these inside them(dogs, mirelurks, molerats; ghouls)except for their meat.
But deathclaws, mirelurk king and queen and all the big one, should because they probably are able to eat a human being in seconds, and I don't think they separate metal parts of armor from the flesh when they chew a guy, and he definitely can have these objects on him.
hmm I guess it depends on how 'realistic' you want to go for.
I think that items that are eaten by any creature that has acidic bile and spits acidic liquids would be pock marked and in horrible condition (unusable).

All the Best!
Only thing i can suggest is on your Description page break up the description with sections on install, compatibility etc.

Some issues may have been fixed from patches.
Best of luck
