Version 1.01
- This v1.01 is a quality of life update. Changes are:
- 1) Settlers are more useful and grateful. With a high enough Settlement Happiness rating (usually above 80), settlers will occasionally give you gifts when they express their thanks. For example, when they say, "We just wanted to say how grateful we are for the opportunity", there is a chance they will give you a gift of crops, medicinal items, ammo, or small shipments of certain building materials.
- 2) Updated SCDO to conform with changes from the December 2020 version of Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (that mod is not required for this). That mod makes lots of grammar edits to vanilla lines with each update it does, so now SCDO conforms with the latest batch of changes from that mod.
- 3) In COMDanse, the following Danse lines that compliment the player right after combat finishes will now only be said after the quest "Call to Arms" (at Arc Jet Systems), because Danse wouldn't likely feel enough admiration for the player before then to say the following lines:
- "You're one hell of a soldier, you know that?"
- "I feel better knowing you have my back."
- "I have to admit, I'm very impressed. You're quite a soldier."
- "It's a pleasure to be a part of a team you can depend on."
- "You were born to be a soldier."
- "I have to admit, I feel pretty damn secure when you've got my back."
- 4) In DialogueFarmGeneric, adjusted conditions on "Didn't expect help from a stranger. Thanks" and "Hey, thanks for your help" so that only appropriate NPC's say it.
- 5) In DialogueGoodneighborGuards, adjusted the following highly-specific dialogue lines so instead of repeating every few minutes, they are only said once:
- - "Might stop by the Memory Den later. There was this girl, few months ago? Man oh man, wouldn't mind seein' those curves again."
- - "The Memory Den's great, just don't get hooked like old Kent. Poor bastard's practically stuck in the past."
- - "Fred Allen at the Hotel Rexford, he can hook you up with chems. Irma at the Memory Den... she offers a whole other class of drug."
- - "So not only is Diamond City's mayor dead... turns out he was a synth all along. And they say Goodneighbor's crazy..."
- - "You know who kicked the Ghouls out of Diamond City, right? That blowhard, Mayor McDonough. He'll get his one day, you watch."
-
Version 1.0
- This is a new content and quality of life update. Safe to use/update on new or existing save game. Let the new version overwrite the old version. Here are the changes:
- - MacCready now has additional combat dialogue variety
- - Codsworth and X688 now have cooldown timers or 'say once' flags on various combat and idle dialogue to avoid/reduce repetition
- - Minor quality of life improvements to the dialogue for a couple other companions.
- - All Fallout 4 companions except for Longfellow and Dogmeat are now accounted for. This may be the last update of this mod for a while. Not sure where else to take it from here.
-
Version 0.99h
- This is a new content and quality of life update. Safe to use/update on new or existing save game. Let the new version overwrite the old version. Here are the changes:
- - Ada is less repetitive and will no longer force greet you into a conversation, nor will the other robot companions (you need Automatron, Nuka World, and Vault-Tec Workshop DLC's for this version)
- - Deacon has been overhauled. He has lots more dialogue, a new "More Options" dialogue menu, he serves as a vendor, and he has a personal quest with a 4th affinity scene.
- - To access Deacon's personal quest, max his affinity (3rd affinity scene where he tells you he used to be a gang member with the UP Deathclaws), then ask him "What's News?". Cycle through his news until a dialogue sequence starts, leading to the quest "Coming Clean".
- - MacCready will no longer repetitively complain about player being over encumbered (missed that one before, thanks Azworai for catching)
- - Fred Allen, Rufus Rubins, and Paul Pembroke will no longer randomly force you into conversation. You greet them first, then they'll talk.
- - Annoying lookout Robot at the USS Constitution will no longer force greet/start the USS Constitution quest. Now you can now start the quest at your convenience without avoiding the area entirely or running away from the robot.
- - Gage won't force greet on his affinity conversations so that you don't miss them permanently if he approaches you at an inconvenient time
- - Other companions won't force greet nag you about wanting to travel with you again
- - When doing Minutemen radiant quests, settlers won't force greet you about needing help. You control when the conversation starts.
-
Version 0.99g
- This is a new content update. Replace the old version with the new. Safe to install on an existing save. Changes are:
- - Added lots more Raider combat lines by re-purposing certain general combat dialogue from Nuka World. SCDO now provides 134 lines of additional Commonwealth Raider combat dialogue compared to Vanilla. Some Raider combat dialogue categories now have double the amount of lines, other categories have just a couple additional entries.
- - Gage has been expanded as a companion: 147 lines of added dialogue, he now gives a repeatable side quest called "Let's Go Kill Some Sh*t" to wipe out competing gangs, he has a "Thoughts" dialogue menu, and he still serves as a vendor, except he sells chems now too and has more caps with which to purchase the junk you collect.
- - There's a holotape on the counter in Fizztop Grille that will restore Gage as a companion if he turned hostile during "Open Season". This holotape is also craftable at a chemistry station under the "Utility" menu. If you use the mod, "Keep both X6-88 and Porter Gage Plus Deacon", that also works great with this.
- - Added more "Relationship" lines for Cait, Curie, Piper, Danse, Hancock, and Valentine.
- - The mod now requires Nuka World for v0.99g and any future versions. If you don't have Nuka World, use v0.99f, as Nuka World isn't required for that version.
-
Version 0.99f
- This is a new content update. Raider and Gunner combat lines have been tweaked to make them sound a little smarter, and to increase variety. Specifically:
- - Raider Combat Taunts: Thirteen taunts have been added, repurposed from cut content and quests where lines are only said once in specific areas (e.g. Museum of Freedom, Combat Zone, Cabot questline). The new lines are general in nature, not location specific, and it's stuff like: "You're goin' nowhere", "C'mon, I got places to be!", "Get it over with and die already!", etc.
- - Raider Combat Taunts: The four vanilla lines where Raiders refer to you as "Rookie" will only play one time, i.e. so your level 55 character won't ever hear "Rookie".
- - Raider 'Normal to Combat' lines: Ten lines have been added, repurposed from cut content and other quests. Examples: "God dammit! You're gonna regret ever comin' here!", "Looks like someone got lost!", "What you waiting for, girl?" (if player female)
- - Raider Combat Hit lines: Two lines added for when Raiders get hit in combat.
- - Raider 'Normal to Alert' lines: Several of the lines that make Raiders sound comically obtuse have been flagged as "say once": e.g. "Hiding? From me? Not even possible..." "Ok, cut the sh*t... who is that?", "What the...!? No, no, it's nothing.." Raiders will still sound dumb, saying lines like "Huh?", Wha?", "What the...", but it won't be as over-the-top as it is in vanilla.
- - Gunner Combat Taunts: Three taunts have been added to the vanilla list of 16.
- - Gunner 'Normal to Alert' lines: When stalking Gunners, they'll no longer say a few of the lines that make them sound incompetent: e.g. "Huh?" "Wha?", so it feels more like you're encountering trained mercenaries.
- The overall effect of this is subtle. The added lines should feel indistinguishable from vanilla and perhaps the only thing you'll notice over time is that existing Raider/Gunner lines are repeating less than they used to.
- If you run the mod "Flirty Commonwealth", that will add another dozen or so derogatory Raider taunts to the list above, and there's no overlap between the taunts in that mod and this one. Put SCDO below Flirty Commonwealth in load order and you'll get all the Raider lines from both mods.
- Last, this update tweaks several companion dialogue entries to increase variety/decrease repetition in the event you're running other companion dialogue mods along with this one.
- This is probably the last update of this mod not requiring the Nuka World DLC. Future updates will incorporate general raider combat dialogue from Nuka World (i.e. lines not specific to Nuka World) into the Commonwealth Raiders.
- It's a lot of work, so probably will take a while before the next update. I asked for feedback on requiring Nuka World in future updates, and everyone who responded on Discord/Nexus was cool with it. The Commonwealth Raiders have 1 female voice type and 2 male voice types. Incorporating select Nuka World Raider voice types and appropriate dialogue lines for those voice types will add a significant amount of additional variety.
-
Version 0.99e
- This is a new content update:
- - Hancock has a new "More Options" dialogue menu similar to Danse, Nick, Curie, Cait, and Piper
- - 130 new dialogue lines for Hancock
- - Hancock serves as a vendor of chems, alcohol, and chemistry supplies
- - Hancock now gives repeatable side quests to track down chem stashes. Completing the quest raises his affinity
- - Preston Garvey sucks a little less. His dialogue has been adjusted so it's less repetitive/annoying.
- - The most important innovation in all of Fallout 4 modding to date: Preston Garvey will no longer say "babe". You're welcome.
- - Minor quality of life improvements to the dialogue for a couple other companions.
