I have rebuilt the mod from the ground up. I'm not sure if there are any other forced affinity changes during Nuka-World besides Home Sweet Home, so please let me know if you see any dialogue from Preston or forced hatred messages.
That kinda stinks then.... Maybe add a warning to the description then about that. Off to go fiond something that will reverse the damage done because I want both preston and raiders.
Warnings don't get added for things people should know. There's no way to "retroactively" change things that are baked into quests. This mod doesn't do anything that would require a warning. You should use it on a new save.
You're going to be hard-pressed finding a reversal that works organically. The scripting has already occurred and has been baked into your save game. The only thing a mod could do is the same things you can do with console commands, which don't really work organically and still causes issues.
It absolutely should be mentioned in the description that this doesn't work retroactively.
Assuming people would know this in advance is incredibly naive.
The majority of people looking for a mod like this would be looking for it after realizing, for the first time, Preston suddenly hates you out of nowhere, given the fact that the game doesn't explain, or hint towards, this at all until it has already happened.
And if it's your first playthrough, as it would be for many people looking for a mod like this and discovering that this happens for the first time, how would you know that beforehand unless you spoiled the quest for yourself by looking it up?
The usefulness of this is severely limited by the fact that it doesn't work retroactively.
Again, you won't find a mod that can organically undo scripts that have already occurred. The usefulness of this mod is perfectly fine. If you want to use console commands to try and "fix" your decisions (and probably break other stuff in the process), feel free. But there's not gonna be a mod version that does that.
What a dumbass comment from all 3 people, holy hell. I wish it wasn't the stupidest people that are always the ones to comment on mods. Freyr's projection comment actually made me annoyed enough to report it and I've never done that.
people who dont know how modding works dont know that. It should be in the description because people who use mods arent the same as people who make them, most of the time. Its one singular sentence that doesnt harm you at all but helps keep people from wasting their time or thinking its broken and trying to fix it and then wasting more time.
Mod makers are volunteers so do what you want but i dont know why you want to die on the hill that it shouldnt be in the description. Your not forced to and its not your duty by any means but it also just doesnt make sense why your so against something that aids people and doesnt harm anyone.
You don't really understand my perspective. I've explained that multiple times in multiple different locations. If people are still asking, that means they didn't read. I don't expect anyone but authors to understand the nuances of the undercarriage of the game. I do expect people to read before they comment.
Is this satire? This mod removes a relationship check it doesn't artificially boost your relationship. The one check is literally the entire purpose of this mod. Look for a mod or use console commands.
Thank you for the time you put into making this! Just wanted to check, does this work for the Next Gen updates? I started fresh, I understand this doesn't work after the damage is done ;)
@elysianmods I'm currently about to play through it. Nuka World has the last few achievements for my 100%. Will download the mod and reply if it works. Or I'll eat too much shredded cheese tonight, get a stomach ache, and forget to report back.
My preston doesn't outright hate me like he should? But he's stuck rambling about the institute even when i see through the dialogue. Don't know if this is a known glitch tho.
Erm...wdym stuck rambling about the institute? Hmm...did you already take them down? I didn't touch any dialogue regarding the institute so I'm a little confused. Is it relevant or related to Nuka World at all or?
I got the "if you're seeing this..." message, and Preston doesn't hate me, so it works fine. I have a separate, vanilla bug where Preston is like "It's really gone" or smth, I choose a dialogue option responding to how I killed a bunch of innocent civilians, and he goes back to "it's really gone"
If you don't want to have to repeatedly tell people "a million times" about the same thing, maybe you should've mentioned in the description that this doesn't work on current saves.
The description itself is unbelievably misleading in this regard:
"This plugin works regardless of if you have Preston as a follower yet or not. Additionally, Preston will now ignore the events of Home Sweet Home and will not have any affinity changes or special dialogue after taking new raider outposts."
This very heavily implies it'd work on a current save. Any rational person reading the description would assume this mod would work on their current save, you should really specify, right at the top, that it doesn't. It'd save you a lot of time of having to repeat yourself if you fixed the misleading description.
I got the message that says the mod worked but Preston attacked me. That message needs some tweaking, probably.
Maybe important background info: - Preston and friends are living in Sanctuary and Preston is cool with me as he should be at this stage - Home Sweet Home was not started but I was able to go to talk Shank for the first time - I have now mod loaded and I start Home Sweet Home and claim the first settlement (Red Rocket).
I claimed Red Rocket. When I went to see Preston to see if it worked, he was instantly hostile. Here is how I "fixed" the situation: I loaded a save I made right after claiming the settlement. Then I sat down (at Red Rocket) and waited for ~48 hours and went to see Preston. He was all fine and cool like nothing happened. I was able to talk to him and recruit him as a follower.
So the mod's "it worked" message should include that you probably want to wait for 48 hours before seeing Preston or he may attack on sight.
Again Preston was hiding in Sanctuary while I claimed Red Rocket as first raider outpost. I don't know if those locations are "too close" each other which caused him to get mad but waiting 48 hours before seeing him seems to have fixed it.

Yep. My experience is: He'll drive you out of his settlement for a day or two by shooting at you, but then all is forgiven.
Thanks for this mod! This allowed my Minuteman General to use the Nuka-Raiders to fight other raiders, without Preston abandoning her. Now, I think Preston would be rightfully pissed if the General led a gang of raiders to wipe out a settlement (one that was inhabited by settlers rather than raiders). But using raiders to kill raiders: Pass the popcorn!
Now all I need is a mod that will allow supply lines between Nuka-Raider settlements and Minutemen settlements.
It looks like this mod stopped working for some reason. I got the message that this mod was working properly after I placed down the flag, but then I headed to sanctuary and Preston immediately started shooting at me. It's weird because I had multiple older characters where this worked with no issue.
This was working fine for so long and then, without warning or update, people start intermittently reporting issues. I need some more information here. Were there any specific changes in choices for quests, progression, or mods on this new character?
Try leaving Preston's settlement for an in-game day or two, and see if he becomes friendly again. Just sleep (or sit) in another settlement for 50 hours.
Not sure if you're still reading comments Elysian, but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that an update to FO4 at some point in 2021 broke several mods? Could be worth looking into but honestly idk, I'm just a basic patch modder.
Hey man. Yeah, I still keep an eye out. I really did/do mean to improve this, but life got crazy after COVID for me. In good ways. High-paying tech job + getting my masters degree leaves little time for playing games, much less modding them. I do still want to come back and fix this since I think it is a "must have" but it's just so difficult to find the time to do so. If you want to help me with this, the best thing you can do is from a completely vanilla game, progress through the game after getting Preston as a follower and get all the way through Nuka-World when you're about to trigger the hated stage. Then shoot me a message so I can work on this. That's really what is stopping me from being able to do this. I don't have the time to commit to a vanilla game getting to that point.
I just started classes again after a year-long leave of absence so things are a bit hectic on my end, but if I can get to that on top of working on my current modding project I'll shoot you a message
That won't do anything. This mod seeks to stop Preston from hating you in the first place. Installing it after he already hates you does nothing.
You don't understand: I did install it before Preston started hating me, and it did stop him from permanently hating me! Ture, he shot at me. He showed as red/hostile. But after leaving his settlement for a day or two, then returning: he was back to normal.
In other words: The mod still works (at least in my game). You do not permanently lose Preston as a companion, and he doesn't give you his "I thought I knew you! I trusted you!" speech. He drives you out of his settlement for a day or two, but then all is forgiven.

Thank you for your literal 9 months of patience.
