    Version 2.0 is currently in development. This version will include a fix to the power armor issue and feature the inclusion of Charon's personal quest, where you will have the option to help him break free of his contract. Charon will also have many more idle lines relating to the environment and combat. I'm not sure how long it will take me to complete 2.0, as I'm mostly learning as I go along, but I'm about 10% done at the moment.

    I do realize this has been stated before, but I cannot get this guy to speak no matter what. I did the voice import, I did the fixes (i.e. .Lip files opening as a .CSP "clip" file) And I otherwise was convince I did everything right. There is no ".wav" at the end of my filenames. Is there any way to fix this? I don't have any mods I believe would conflict with Charon. Everything else works perfectly well, just simply not the voice.

    Also for anyone who mentioned it, the Bethesda version of Charon crashes my wife's PC version and otherwise doesn't function most times, so just know it isn't the most sound mod - it was the mod creator's first attempt.

    Thanks in advance for any help or tips, be it from FerryGhoul or anyone else who may have some insight :3

    For anyone who wants a Charon mod with voicelines already set up you can just grab it from Bethesda's own website, or the "Mods" tab in the FO4 menu. Just search Charon.

    Bethesda clearly doesn't seem to care that much, may as well have just included voicelines for this mod. There are tons of mods on Nexus which use voicelines from other games that go unnoticed/unremoved over the years. 🤷‍♂️

      When downloading that mod, my game locks me in and I can't move upon loading up... Do I just need to start a new save and use it? Just wondering! If you don't know, that's fine too :)

    for some reason charon can't follow me. It was all fine until i loaded previous save and he just stopped following me (i mean he just waits in one place and if i ask him to follow me he doesn't say anything nor follow me)

    As someone who spent an hour and a half to get the voice lines implemented... worth it. 100%. I love my man and I'd spend another hour and a half to do it again if I needed. You did fantastically, friend, thank you ever so kindly for this mod!!! I know its been about... three years or so, but will you be implementing version 2.0 as mentioned in the sticky? Good Charon content is so rare these days, and I'm curious if that personal quest and idle lines additions are still in the works.

    Why are you still using Full Dialogue Interface? Everyone else is using Extended Dialogue Interface now, have been for awhile, because FDI requires too many patches to make it run, and EDI is the same thing but a lot easier to use. So, can I use EDI for this? Because I'm not switching to an inferior mod, and I have the skills to just make my own Charon companion myself using updated modding resources if that's the case. I'm not going to waste my time on this if it's easier to just make my own Charon.

    Also:
    UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I PROVIDE VOICE FILES FROM FALLOUT 3.

    Tempting though it is, I'm not breaking the law so your Charon can talk.
    It's not illegal to upload his voicelines. You're just a coward and don't realize that there are other sites where you can upload s#*! without repercussions, because it's not really Bethesda who gives a s#*!, it's the Nexus trying to cover their own asses, just in case "something" happens. You're perfectly fine uploading stuff to Google Drive, or even Patreon. If this weren't true, there wouldn't be so many Skryim and Fallout conversions for the Sims 2/3/4 floating around everywhere.

    Edit: Turns out it requires Mod Organizer 2, which I also refuse to use on the grounds that it fucks everything up if you're a modder. Which I am. So this mod is utter garbage to me. Guess this was a waste of time and I'll have to make my own.

      The description makes no mention of Full Dialogue Interface. EDI is listed under requirements and it's also linked in the description. Please try to work on your reading comprehension.

      I upload my mods on Nexus. I'm not going to upload files on other sites to save you twenty minutes of work. Also, yes, violating copyright is illegal whether you profit off of it or not.

      Every responsible modder uses MO2 these days. It's been the standard for years. MO2 affords you a massive amount of customization and control compared to Vortex and other lighter managers, and the MO2 installation is entirely separate from your game files. It literally cannot harm your game installation. This makes it ideal for modders because you can play around with stuff while still keeping a vanilla copy of the game around.

      You were wrong about virtually everything you said here. Are you okay?

    Hey there! First I'd like to say thank you for the mod, Charon looks great!

    Secondly, I can't get Charon's voicelines to work at all. I'm not sure which step I messed up, and any help you (or anyone else) can provide would be greatly appreciated!

      I've NEVER been able to get them to work, I swear I either don't know what I'm doing (though if I can install F4SE I should be able to work any mod like magic) or am missing something, but not once has he spoken an audible line XD

      If either of you can tell me the steps you've performed so far, I could see where you possibly went wrong and help fix any problems.

      Woops sorry, mrtw0face is my alt. Pasting this here so you might get a message reply notification as well: "If either of you can tell me the steps you've performed so far, I could see where you possibly went wrong and help fix any problems."

      hi, i'm very late but upon installing the voices i just renamed them without the "" .wav "" and it works properly. Ig uess it's because it's already a .wav in the system and won't recognize the files because they have different names.

      ex: 0000A8A1_1 = Duck!= genericadult_fireexplosive_00022aa3_1

      instead of renaming it ""0000A8A1_1.wav"" you rename it ""0000A8A1_1""

      hope it helps

      This is well over a year late, but I recently reinstalled Fallout 4 and figured I'd give this process a go again. As it turns out, windows was setting the .lip files to open with CLIP STUDIO PAINT and it wasn't registering the file types I guess, and subsquentually ruining my hard work lmao. So if anyone else is having issues despite following the instructions, make sure it says .lip and not a random ass program. ;u;

    Wish I was at all competent enough to get this to work with the voice files, BUT ALAS it makes my head hurt. lol

    Great stuff though Ferryghoul, Envious of those who can enjoy it fully.

    I use Classic Ghoul Replacer or Ghouls Revamped (depending on what I'm feeling), will Charon work with them?
    Also, is there any chance in the future for a more Charon-y hair style? He gained a bit of hair since I've seen him last :3

      I wanted to add that I can't get the Voice Replacer to work, I don't know if it's because I don't have the GOTY edition on steam, I have it on CD instead. Files are all there but it can't find any audio files.

      Ghouls Revamped should work fine, but since Classic Ghoul Replacer changes every ghoul NPC to an entirely new race, Charon would be unaffected unless you went into the Creation Kit and changed his race to the new ghoul replacer race. I'm 85% sure that would mess up a lot of things, but feel free to try it out to see if it works.

      You could also change his hairstyle in the CK as well - Far Harbor comes with two hairstyles that feature less hair, but I thought they went too far and I'd rather Charon have too much hair than the other way around. Or if you tell me specifically which hairstyle you think would suit him better, I could upload an optional file for you.

      For the voice problem - what does the inside of your FO3 game folder look like? Can you find the archives named MenuVoices.bsa and Fallout - Voices*.bsa in either the main folder or the Data folder?
