I don't get what makes people upset about this, it is a modification, it's your own decision to download it or not, you don't like it? Don't download it and move on.
This isn't something that is forced so you don't have a reason to hate here, I made this because I could and it will stay here for the people that want it.
We have a very large number of individuals in the world now, who have grown-up being told they are special. This has led them to believe that their opinions are special. When combined with levels of extreme entitlement, it results in douchebags who think they need to force-feed their opinion to everyone else; regardless of whether there is any justification to do so.
My advice is just ignore it. Eventually we will reach a critical mass of douchebaggery, and once the douches with conflicting but "special" opinions destroy each other, we can rebuild society in the Doucheout Wasteland.
Dunno about other ppl, but MC level 67 to get the first perk level?! wtf, homie?! I tried to change it with FO4Edit but was unsucessful cuz couldnt find the exact line I had to change, but okay. Has been a pain, but I can live with it lol
Hey man, appreciate the mod and I like the implementation. Only, after starting a new game it seems the first level requirement is to be level 67? I don't think it is a mod conflict and I installed with NMM/ Vortex. Have you seen or heard of this kind of glitch before?
1) [CHA 6] [Lie] Great mod, thank you for your awesome effort! 2) [INT <2] Oh wowsers this is the best mod ever, Rifles were like so useless. 3) [INT 2] [Tell Truth] The f*#@ is wrong with you? Rifleman is already the most overpowered perk in the game and effectively TRIPLES your damage output at 5 points. 4) I hate Rifles. 5) What's a Rifle?
The salt is real, especially for a single-player game with no competitive aspect, and an optional mod that no one forced you to even look at let alone download.
As it is this is unbalanced due to the fundamental aspect of them mod (having other perks buffed would be nice!) but this is f*#@ing great regardless, +1
Question/suggestion: would it be possible to make a variation on this perk to increase weapon range? Could be used alternatively, or in tandem with the damage buffs (optional downloads?). Only similar perk I can think of is Gunslinger, but that only works for handguns/pistols.
I ask because neither the Sniper perk nor the Rifleman perk do anything to affect the effective range of a rifle, and yet in real life, a well-trained sniper/sharpshooter's effective range with a given rifle is going to be longer than for the average Joe whose skills aren't as good. We've all read about the Canadian sniper in Afghanistan who hit a target like 2 miles away--the average soldier couldn't do that (purposely). Anyway, I get frustrated when I've got an enemy centered clearly in my sights only to discover that my bullets aren't in fact reaching him because, despite my maxed-out Sniper & Rifleman perks and a 10+ perception, apparently the bullets totally stop moving at 204 hexes and drop vertically to the ground, though if he'd moved forward 1 hex my bullets would of course land dead center where I'm aiming, lol! But, bullet-flight realism aside, I enjoy playing a long-range sniper, and it kind of sucks that I can't hit targets from even further away despite the invested perks.
Okay, just tested it at Taffington Boathouse and took potshots at the mutants across the river in their little village there, and managed to take out 2 and a hound from a distance that, previously, my .50 sniper rifle was not able to reach. Also, none of them went aggro (they never appeared on my compass and never came looking for me, they just ran around like headless chickens when their buddies died, lol). I'll try some more when I play again later on, but this looks really promising! I checked my weapon stats and there's nothing reflected in the range numbers given for each (not sure if they were supposed to change or not), fyi. I feel like I can endorse this already based on what I've seen, not to mention the quick response!
Unfortunately I can't test that since I never took Gunslinger... I'll take it on my next level up though and report back here. I just hit 54 so it could be the weekend when I get to play longer than a half hour, lol
I forgot Gunslinger only applies to non-auto pistols, which I don't use with this character build. Maybe someone else can confirm the Gunslinger changes?
I'm definitely seeing longer ranges with my rifles though, as well as the increased damage.
Endorsed!! Champion. Thanks for sticking with it. Fully agree with Spider's comments.
Merlockx its little tweaks like this that make a game a whole lot more enjoyable when the tweaks are relevant to your particular playstyle. Thanks again man
I downloaded the one with the range buff, but when i look at the stat of the rifle it still says 215. is this a bug? also , i didn't notice a difference in shot distance, might be me tho, could you make one with only shot distance changed to +100% or something? thanks
I noticed this as well. I'm happy with the +50% increase but I don't believe it worked for me. Can't find any mod conflicts or at least none that I think should conflict with this mod as the damage has still gone up.
Is it possible to add range as well, as pistols have about 50% more range with another perk (gunslinger?), rivaling any rifle in the game. It would be cool if Rifleman would do the same with rifles.
Can u make a perk overhaul with two versions - One is increased and the other one is decreased version ? Rifle/Commando/Toughness/Detonation/Carry weight....................................
This isn't an improvement, it's an alteration, change, increase or a buff. "Improvement" suggests something is *better* than before, and that is a subjective thing in this case. This mod is misnamed.
I'd like to first state that while I think this mod is unneeded, I'm glad that it's an option for people who want it. But with that said...
Rifles are already the best weapons in the game. Automatics do less damage and waste ammunition, pistols can be nice but aren't nearly as common or customizable as most other weapons, and heavy weapons slow you down and are, for the most part, clunky to use.
What difficulty are you playing that you feel like the rifleman perk isn't strong enough? Because I've recently stopped using rifles entirely because they're just too damn good.
i've tried both on survival with mods to make it "harder", as in artificial difficulty until we get real hardcore mods, i still find automatics easier, but its just not a very difficult game in general though. if they want to strengthen their preferred playstyle, there's nothing wrong with that.
It's not objectively better. If I wanted the game to be harder, this mod would be objectively worse. I have a peeve when people name things "improvements" when they are just "changes". It's not better, it is not worse, it's simply a different value whose merits or lack thereof we individually judge based on what we think of the base game. My issue isn't with the mod, it's with your choice of name for it. You could call it "Buffed Rifleman" since that's exactly what it is.
Personally, with Rifleman 5/Bloody Mess 3, my upgraded Combat Shotgun was doing 200 dmg and my gauss gun would one shot almost everything, in the torso, without a sneak attack bonus.
If you want to gimp yourself, then that's your personal preference. Not everyone else wants to, and don't go criticizing how people name their mods based on your personal preference. That's heading towards harassment territory.
Thanks for sharing this, I don't understand all the negativity. I love seeing many options for mod types, I won't be using it as I find the games buff is adequate for me but I really do appreciate you sharing it with the community. 1388 total downloads, that's a lot of people, please don't let these select few discourage you from distributing anything else you make!

Updated the mod with Creation kit so the range buff should actually work right now.

Oh, allow me to explain.

P.S. I like the look of the mod, I will use in my next playthrough of Fallout 4. Thank you for your contribution.

It's not that I found this mod was really needed, I just felt like doing it as there wasn't one for the Rifleman yet
