This simple mod which is a part of my Rebalance Series raises radiation levels for the vanilla Fallout 4 game by 35%-65%. Available as ESL/ESL flagged .esp.

6/19 All DLC version added. Edits some radiation values for Far Harbour/Nuka World. Go there prepared.

8/23 Update: Well, my PC is officially dead so all projects have been put on permanent hold for PC and the other platforms.

Would you be able to increase the Fog radiation levels for Far Harbor? As far as I am aware it is only True Storms that does it. Also the same for radstorms?

I could but I found the radiation levels there to be balanced pretty well. Is there a reason you wouldn't want to use True Storms?
Edit: Added All DLC version under optional files.

I mean I'd like the idea of the constantly ticking Geiger counter and rads going up at a faster pace so you are constantly under the edge and pressured to hurry and use your time smartly while in the Fog (this also makes the enemies harder, as your hp is constantly eaten up by rads which makes sense from lore perspective). The vanilla rad levels were an inconvenience at best.

As for the radstorms, it is the same problem. It should be quite heightened rads flowing over from the Glowing Sea, not just a cool effect and inconvenience at best. Like when you hear the storm starting you should think "s#*! I should find shelter soon (an interior cell or something)" I think it's rads should be even higher than the Fog's in Far Harbor.

I'll check out the DLC version thanks :) I might make the edits to the plugins myself in FO4Edit, as you might disagree with my notion of rad levels.

I like your idea but you have to account for how it affects NPCs and creatures who usually do not have the same rad resistance you, the player can obtain. There are a few mods I can think of that crank up the rads to the level you are talking about and they don't work very well. I also like the pockets of deep radiation more so than constant radiation everywhere. It wouldn't make much sense for so much radiation after 200 years.

Yeah I get what you are saying, makes sense that it is technically unfeasible. I'll stick with your mod for radiation, as it worked the best for me so far.

I think people often and greatly underestimate this.

I guess it depends on what kind/type of nukes were used in the FO universe and how many. Anybody know the nuke specs in FO? :-D

But nukes in reality, esp. old makes and models, can leave behind more residual radioactivity than modern enhanced radiation weapons/neutron bombs, which are the most radioactive during the blast only, thus leaving less radiation behind.

      Think about this:

Millions of years old dinosaur bones are found so radioactive that the actual real ones on display have to be coated with lead... Some are presumed to be exposed naturally over a very long period in the ground (natural source in the ground) and others might have been exposed to ancient radioactive cosmic rays of one type or another since some bones are mysteriously radioactive (enough to be poisonous) without any natural sources in the ground... And they are millions upon millions of years old, still dangerously radioactive.

Sure, I get what you are saying but I balanced the mod based upon my research and tune it to the game mechanics as I felt appropriate. We'll all have different opinions on the subject. There isn't really any real technical info on Fallout nukes so no data to utilize for the mod.

I've been thinking about this for a while. A post-nuclear wasteland only really feels post-nuclear with a lot of radiation. I think the range of your increases sounds right, and since I just had my ass handed to me by the Concord deathclaw today (with your mod installed), I already feel like this is going to be right up my alley.

Nice, I'll give it a go.

So far I tried "Radiation Overhaul", which is quite and old and "Radiation are no joke" which goes a bit overboard.

Hopefully your mod will hit the spot :)

Well, it takes up no slot, and you know how I feel about balancing from my other mods. I am pretty happy with how it functions when compared to the Vanilla game. The radiation may be a tad high for more casual players but I do think they will get used to it okay.
