This mod is part of my Improved Ecosystem Series that bolsters the Yao Guai in Fallout 4 to better balance the game and create a proper challenge while adhering to the natural food chain. The stats, hp, and damage resistance have been altered from 15% - 45%, depending on the type and legendary status.

There are currently five mods in the series besides this one: Dogged Mirelurks, Lethal Deathclaws, Stronger Behemoth, Stronger Radscorpion & Balanced creatures and NPCs.

8/23 Update: Well, my PC is officially dead so all projects have been put on permanent hold for PC and the other platforms.

Today I encountered my first yao guai since installing this, and man...you nailed it! This one spawned as a glowing variant and was noticeably more challenging to take down even with the arguably OP R91 rifle I was using. Thanks again for sharing these mods and for making them so lightweight. It makes them easy for me to merge into my gameplay tweaks compilation. Also hope you're able to get your tech issues sorted.

Thanks. I recently uploaded my Improved Ecosystems mod if you like my series of mods so check a look. :)

As for my PC issues, it is not looking great, unfortunately. My anaemic internet speed has gotten worse since the windows updates dropping me into sub DSL speeds, sleep mode is completely broken, load times have increased by 20+ seconds, CK and Unity are now completely unusable, Programs will occasionally blank out for no reason, etc.

The worst part of this is that I was going to port my mods to PS4 for a user who asked very politely/kindly, and now I can't fulfil that pledge.

Is this series intended for survival?

It isn't specifically balanced for survival but you are welcome to try it with that mode. If it isn't to your liking, it is not harmful to remove.

Edit: I do believe there are some users who are using them all in survival mode and liking it. However, most of them are Stalker game fans like myself so your opinion of it will vary.

I hope you find them useful. I always try to make all of my mods available in ESL and ESL flagged esp for vanilla, all DLCs and partial DLC players. This allows all of my mods to stay incognito, modular, and free from load order bloat.

hey tekmage, amazing mods as usual.

Since most of your balanced mods are fo4edit changes only is it safe to merge all of them?

If you are comfortable with FO4 Edit, it should be fine to do so. I recently updated Balanced Creatures and NPCs to include all DLCs so use that version when you merge if you have all of the DLCs.

Note: The main reason I did not merge what is already available as one is not everyone will be of the same mind when it comes to these type of changes. I thought it best to keep it modular so you can use what you might like. I'm quite fond of Stalker, so the difficulty with all of the mods together might not be everyone's cup of tea. I've been thinking of creating a pseudo survival mode which takes out the aspects I dislike. I think it will fit well with all of the balance mods.

Also may i add that separated mods can be a nice baseline to start from for doing further mod changes or your own adjustments as well.
I was once 1 for all mods because of simplicity and convenience, but in all honesty, keeping track of a large mods changes is harder then a few targeted mods doing the same, at least as more and more you progress "mod wise".
Also, when such mods clash, they clash hard. So this is actually a nice breeze of fresh air where you get targeted and pretty much well documented changes that are easy to check up on instead of so many mods going for the "Fallout 4 re-imagined" which pretty much are always a hit and miss in 50% of it's changes. Think about it like this, i really love Amazing Follower Tweaks but that thing is adding sooooo much (even though i kinda do understand what he means) when i only want the possibility to save Nora (seemed most lore/immersive) i do not want the 1000 other stuff it does. Just a rough example.
Amazing work, can't wait for the next mod! :)
And thank you for sharing it with us!

@theimmersion Yeah, I recently had a few users say some unflattering things about the modular concept. Essentially, the gist of it was that I was filling the Nexus with unnecessary garbage. The thing is that ESL files don't take up a slot but does carry a record limit. I also have a roadmap I'm following if they had bothered to read my short article on what my plans were. Thanks for your astute observations.
