This mod for Fallout 4 VR was inspired by More Accurate Weapons by blinkVR. The main difference between his mod and mine are the number of weapons the mod alters the aim models for (his changes fewer) and the fact that the "No Recoil + Accuracy" option from my mod has thus far been working as expected, whereas the equivalent by blinkVR doesn't appear to reduce recoil at all.

The reason for the mod's existence is simply that the recoil mechanics in Fallout 4 VR are... strange... The way VR games handle recoil is obnoxious to begin with, but Fallout 4 VR has a rather weird reset that happens once the barrel of the gun climbs to its maximum angle, causing the gun to suddenly snap back to "zero" and start its recoil arc over again. This mod eliminates that behavior by eliminating the recoil. Crude but effective.

The mod is packaged in a fancy FOMOD installer that can be installed using Vortex. It has two categories, each with two options, listed below:

No Recoil Only
  • Vanilla Weapons
  • Far Harbor Weapons

No Recoil + Accuracy
  • Vanilla Weapons
  • Far Harbor Weapons

The first category (No Recoil Only) is for those who only want the benefits of no recoil, and don't want the mod to alter the default accuracy of their weapons. The second category is for those who want no recoil and vastly improved accuracy (as in shooting in a straight line even when firing fully automatic). Both have an option for vanilla weapons (as in non-DLC weapons), as well as option for Far Harbor for those of us who couldn't live without the DLC from Fallout 4.

Other DLC: There are no aim models for new player weapons that fire projectiles in either Automatron or Nuka World (they use the aim models from vanilla weapons), so there was no need to create options/plugins for those.

Note: The "Vanilla Weapons" option from "No Recoil Only" isn't compatible with the "Vanilla Weapons" option from "No Recoil + Accuracy", and likewise the two "Far Harbor Weapons" options are not compatible with each other. If you try to mix two of the same option, then only one of them will work (the one that comes last in your load order). Obviously you can select a "Vanilla Weapons" from one category and a "Far Harbor Weapons" from the other, however you can't select two of the same thing and expect it to work.

Also Note: While this mod was made for and tested in Fallout 4 VR, I am not aware of any technical reason why it wouldn't work in regular Fallout 4. Keep in mind that since I haven't tested it, I can't say if it works of not, so be aware that your mileage may vary.

Compatibility: This mod is not compatible with anything that edits the aim models (recoil and accuracy) of vanilla or Far Harbor DLC weapons. This mod does appear to work with some custom weapon mods, however note that it will need to come below them in the load order if there are compatibility issues.

Requirements: The "Vanilla Weapons" options only require the main Fallout4.esm file, and the "Far Harbor Weapons" options only require the Fallout4.esm and DLCCoast.esm files. The "Vanilla Weapons" and "Far Harbor Weapons" options don't even require each other, and can be used together or alone. They can even appear in any order you like in your load order, so long as incompatible mods aren't below them.

Testing: I have thus far only tested this with a few vanilla weapons. I'll do more testing and update this as soon as I can, and try to fix any issues I come across. Feel free to report any issues to me, and I will try to respond as soon as possible, assuming Nexus Mods sends me a notification.
