Depends if author changed that one aswell.. there are 3 types of minigun in the game. Regular one , Vertibird and Vertibird Player. As far as i remember the player one uses different Aim model

The change to the spray radius does apply to the NPCs. The bonus damage is player only. Because the damage done by each vertibird is controlled by the type of vertibird / level of the vertibird.

So is there no way to make it player only? Npc Vertibird with minigun snipers is big ouch.

      This will affect NPCs as well. MinigunVertibirdAM [AMDL:0016429D] affects;

      - Minigun_Vertibird "Minigun" [WEAP:001299A6]
      AND
      - Minigun_Vertibird_Player "Minigun" [WEAP:00064B87]

WEAP:001299A6 is used by NPCs, thus vertibirds.

Yesterday I did a completely fresh install of fallout, because I was having issues with fps loss and found my solution to getting my game stabilized. Played it a good while this morning. Then decided to come on nexus and look over various mods and this one, I downloaded along with a tracer mod. Upon trying to load my save the game crashed and the steam gameoverlayui thing got stuck to a point I had to hard restart the PC. I thought it was the tracer mod. So I took it off leaving only this one. Again the game crashed hard. I am left to conclude that this mod was the cause of the issues. I was using the optional 300 file.

Your crash issue is not from this mod. I can assure you this to 101%

Well your 101% is wrong. Allow me to fill you in on what happened since this post:

Once I got my PC back up and running from a final hard restart, Nexus Mod Manager was erroring in trying to uninstall the 300% version of your mod. But I reinstalled it then uninstalled it. It registered uninstalled but was still showing up in the mod list though unchecked. So I opened Fallout 4's data folder, found your plugin, and deleted it manually, and permanently deleted your mod off my NMM.

Finally, I put the hollywood tracers mod back on, along with the patch for Skibada's weapons. Loaded my save again, and this time it loaded with no problems, was able to run around red rocket station and finally exited the game after testing that the tracer mod worked. More than likely your mod had a hard incompatibility with something, or, the 300% version has a corruption in it because as I said, nexus mod manager was having severe issues uninstalling it after the hard crashes.

Edit: Okay I think there might be something in my load order that does not like mods that either modify the minigun, or the vertibird ones or both. I tried another minigun mod that only increases damage and rate of fire of just the minigun itself, that also effects the vertibird one. Had the same crash, except, this time, NMM had no issues with uninstalling that mod.

I opened FO4Edit and checked the minigun itself, 3 things reference the minigun:
      AWKCR
      Skibada's Weapons Pack
      WinchesterP94

And the only thing now that references the Vertibird minigun is that Hollywood Tracer Mod, which I had tried to install same time as your mod.

So not sure where the incompatibility lies.

      Edit 2:
Think I may of found where the incompatibility is. It's not so much the stat changes, as it is effecting something IN concord. Got a similar crash from a mod that simply added a fatman to concord.Only 3 mods I have messes with concord:
      We are the Minutemen
      Far West Minutemen
      Sim Settlements Conqueror's.

Positive it's not sim settlements. So likely one of the minutemen mods.

      Update:
I believe I found the source of the problems. I decided to test a minigun suite, and a fresh save as I also took off far west minutemen and the patches to make it work with we are the minutemen. Sadly that test failed. I was able to start a fresh new game, goto the vault portion and exited into the commonwealth no problem. And then saved and decided to see if it would load. Sadly it did not. But it didn't do a hard crash either.

Then it dawned on me, there is 1 mod I was using that effected every damage I did. I realized mods that increased a weapons damage MIGHT be incompatible with it as it effected survival mode damage on everything. So I popped a different minigun mod on this one only bumping the damage up from 8 to 12. I also took the tracer mod back off, along with that survival damage mod, Started a fresh save and waited for the menues to all finish their pop ups and saved the game and exited. The result upon trying to load: It worked. I was able to load the game no problem.

I do got one question: will your mod effect normal miniguns? If the answer is no, then I will use another mod for it.

I'm also using a mod that overhauls weapons, named Better Locational Damage, in addition to this one and I'm not having the issue.
Deactivate all mods, and enable only the mods you think, they could cause the issue. If your game freezes, it sounds more like a scripting issue or other related. You may want to disable the steam overlay, if you are using an ENB. It can cause such issues.

I've confirmed the mod that was causing the crashes and all the problems with any mod that effected a weapon's damage was this one:

      https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20952

I took it off and I am able to use mods like yours. By the way, does your mod also effect normal miniguns too?

      No, only vertibird miniguns.

The mod you linked is also very unlikely to produce the issue you have. It only changes some values. Such mods cannot crash your game. Your issue lies somewhere else.

How many mods are you using?

I know it's odd, but the moment I took that mod off, I can use any minigun mod. My guess is while that mod says it touches only certain records, it's doing something else too that was causing issues between itself and mods like yours.

Anyways thanks for answering my question. While your mod seems really good, I think I will use a different mod that does the same thing only it also effects normal miniguns and the rate of fire with damage boost.

    Great mod. Works as advertised.

I was having problems with one of BoS missions, because I made many enemies more challenging with another mod and couldn't even scratch them with a vanilla vertibird minigun - it was so pathetic. Installed this mod, boosted damage and now I can feel that I am flying a death machine.

can you make a version with 100% accuracy just like irl? like shoot where you are aiming + a non vertibird version with recoil kick at start of firing/maybe a jam mechanism when shooting in bursts again like irl?
    thank you great mod.

Bethesda removed the jam mechanic for Fallout unfortunately. I can't add it back. You can download the main file and open xedit, then you can adjust it on your own, how you like the accuracy. It's very easy to do. I prefer it like this for gameplay reasons. If you need help with that, you can also join my discord for direct help.

Probably increases the chance of people reading it, but still testing it.

Good mod idea, I'll use it for sure. Do you have plans to expand the mod a bit further and make Vertibirds for example tougher? I don't have problems with the number of mods I use but to have useful Vertibirds with one mod would be nice.

BLD takes care of Vertibirds and they should be much tougher.

Yup, looked it after to compare with Durable Vertibirds mod. BLD makes them even stronger. BTW the Vertibird minigun damage in BLD is 60, so to have it stronger you should at least install the 200% version, I nearly tricked myself by choosing the 100% option. ;) To keep BLD stats with the higher accuracy of this mod one could also delete the weapon entry here and keep the aim model entry, or just load it prior to BLD..

Hi there Zzyxzz, any chance of getting an explosive enchantment? This is great too though.

You jest but i did exactly just that for myself and the verti minigun feels a lot better as a proper powerful mounted situational gun it should have been. Plus the explosive bullets provide nice point of reference where your bullets are actually hitting.

Especially useful in Survival where vertibirds feel like they are made out of paper. vertibird segments of No Mercy and Mass fusion (BOS) are no longer suicides if done at high level. (had problem with those 2 as my verti got shredded to pieces before i could even kill 1 enemy with this innacurate pea shooter)

@Lythael, I didn't even engage him. One of the older Vertibird mods featured that (durable vertibirds I think) but it ate up too much esp slots. Now I use BOS Overhaul (Soldiers wear full armor and verts get buffed by removing level caps and having more armor). Any way, the minigun with explosive enchantment feels proper. This mod is great too, no doubt about that. Can you share how you gave the minigun explosive bullets? Thank you

Sure thing i just did it in Fo4edit replaced the: MiniGunProjectile [PROJ:0003ADFB]
      with: mod_Legendary_ExplosiveProjectile [PROJ:001E73BA]
at "Override Projectile" section of: Minigun_Vertibird "Minigun" [WEAP:001299A6] and Minigun_Vertibird_Player "Minigun" [WEAP:00064B87] weapons so both the player mounted one and npc mounted one use explosive bullets same as those you find on Legendary weapons with "Explosive" prefix.

You can just replace the player one and leave the non player one vanila if you wish.
Careful tho :P collateral damage is a thing with those so watch where you shoot to not hurt friendlies or civilians. Or do hurt them if you don't care xD

What I would like to see is that the Vertibird mini gun, when you point to it, get a point, to point out where you are pointing when you zoom, I have not seen any mod that adds that to this weapon, at least in the Vertibird would be interesting to have a point of reference when aiming.

I would like that as an optional file, without other changes hehe (you can call it request haha)
