This mod has been around for 3 years and no one noticed there is no facial textures included with any of the files on this mod page? There is meshes but all the textures are missing, so opening it up in nifskope shows purple faces.

This is normal for FO4, they are just NPC faces made in the Creation Kit using Vanilla files only. FO4 doesn't need the generated loose textures (and is often better off without them as they are often excessively large, with a single NPC's coming to 48mb). I believe FO4 does it this way (rather than Skyrim which did generate textures most of the time) to allow for better compatibility with texture replacers of different resolutions.

A quick look around shows that several mods that add more settler faces don't even include the Facegen meshes, meaning the game has to generate them on the fly which can cause lag and potentially crashes, especially noticeable if you encounter many of them.

You can always re-export NPC faces with the Creation Kit if you have issues, but I've been running these NPCs in my FO4 for 3 years with no dedicated texture files and have had no missing textures on them (which for faces manifests in-game as "Dark Face Bug" (which CAN happen to Vanilla NPCs, often Companions, especially on the automatic reloads upon dying) rather than the usual "missing texture" pink/purple).

Nifskope is not in-game, nor is it an official tool. Personally I've found it to be unreliable (especially for Skyrim).

Sorry, I was abit to quick to dismiss this mod as being incomplete without actually bothering to check in game. Just got lazy to build a settlement becon and wait an hour for npc to show up in game.

Every group got more generic NPCs except the Minutemen. I'm not sure if there is a coflict or something else.

Could be a conflict, or it could be you are using the old version (Minutemen were a later addition with 1.2 (with the early version I assumed that Minutemen would use Settler faces, they don't).

The entries that would conflict and result in no Minutemen would be LCharMinutemenFaces, LCharMinutemenFacesFemale and LCharMinutemenFacesMale (all can be found under LevelledNPC).

I downloaded 1.2 so it wasn't that. I'll probably just deal with it since I don't want to mess with anything.

If something is messing with the MM Faces list, it's probably already adding new ones to that list anyway.

It's not. You think reverting back to vanilla FO4 and reinstalling would fix it?

      Likely not.

As a test, slap this mod at the bottom of your load order, start a fresh save, and spawn some minutemen. If there's a conflict somewhere, they should show up fine here as whatever is loaded last takes priority over everything loaded before it. If it works on a fresh save, then check and existing save (sometimes things bake into saves), if it doesn't work on a fresh save, it's possible something else is changing which face pool they draw from.

Fresh installs are only really required when something is irreparably broken, and 3 Levelled NPC records wouldn't ever fall into this realm.

If it's not working on a fresh save and at bottom of load order, seems like something is changing which face pool MM draw from. This mod only adds new faces to the vanilla face pool, so if the face pool is changed, it won't grab them.

MM aren't exactly a common spawn unless you are actively siding with them.

Can only think of a few times they even appear. Notably Flare Gun reinforcements, checkpoints (if Nuclear Option is done with MM), The Castle, one of the Institute quests (replaced with Gunners if MM aren't restored), and a few rare random encounters.

Hey, this seems like a cool mod, but I have Better Settlers and a couple other settler mods and I'm afraid to break anything. Plus, I kind of want something a little more personalized. If not, I totally understand, trade secrets and all, but it would be awesome if you could teach me how to add custom faces to the settler character pool :)

Adding custom settler faces is as simple as copy/pasting an existing settler face (to ensure they have the right faction data etc), then modifying it and adding it to the relevant levelled lists (images of these are shown on this mod for compatibility reasons). You can always merge with a separate mod file as long as it's either an .esl or an .esp loaded after the mods it's merging.

Hey! I really enjoy this mod!
It is possible to further reduce any possible slight stutter when encountering new npc's by implementing leveled list fix, like this mod
    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46579
Here it is explained in more detail. Basically splitting up the leveled list, so it is not 36 entries in a single entry, but sublists instead
    https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=3806030/#entry82283173
Hope you will consider it, should be easy to implement :-)

Hmm, I've never encountered any stuttering, you can always make a patch for yourself if you want to.

Anyone faced Cricket's caravan guard turns into dark face? I done trying export facegen following tutorials on youtube and google but still getting the dark face issue.

That's odd, as the Caravan guards for the assorted caravans roaming the Commonwealth are unique NPCs untouched by this mod. I even included a screenshot of all Vanilla records I changed for potential conflicts.

Seriously, each and every one of them is a unique NPC with their own face, stats, etc. (I gave them all names and more distinct appearances in my personal tweaks mod after learning this).

My guess is you either have a weird bug, or another mod is assigning the caravan guards a generic face from one of the levelled lists I added to and you just happened to get one with bad facegen data (I ran into an issue on my end where one of the Female Gunners had BFB, but I rebuilt all the Gunner faces and she was fixed when I loaded back in).

Ths for reply, I'm still working on it to find out why some of my npc keep having dark face. Might need to spend more time to find out why...

I've seen completely random Vanilla NPCs (as well as occasionally Player) have BlackFaceBug sometimes, mostly after re-loading a save (by dying or other means) as from what I can tell only the very first load of a FO4 boot up won't have these issues, but any mid-game load can.

The thinking behind that one was that Raiders usually have some form of headwear on that hides hair and seem to like silly hair cuts, so it was put in as a gag that wasn't supposed to be common. Of course, random generation can mean you see the same raider over and over, sometimes even in the same camp.

I've uploaded a replacer .esp that doesn't have that hairstyle in it.

Ah, you've found the Marge Simpson fan.

He's also extra scrawny and can be considered someone banished from The Pack.

looks like the random body generation sometimes comes up with really weird body shapes

If you have a non-vanilla body, I know they can cause some bizarre issues with triangle values nearer the points than the middle.

Some of the bodies are random, some are pre-set. If you have screenshots of some of the weird ones I may be able to identify them as deliberate or randomised.

Hey, the update didn't seem to give me the new Minutemen records in FO4 edit. Will they still appear in game eventually?

      Bloody hell you're right.

I must've put the wrong .esp in the download!

I feel like a right dingbat right now.

Should be updated by the time anyone reads this.

P.S. Sorry for the late reply.

You requested, I did it. Hope you like them (and they spawn, luck can still give you a clone army).
