Idk man an advanced enough AI that perfectly replicates human emotion and behavior could arguably hold the save value as a human life if it's self aware and capable of independent thought, who's to say where the line between replica and perfect copy is? Heck AI aside these things are also just literal clones of our collective son that have been cybernetically altered, like sure they come out full grown and with basic intelligence but they're made using a pool of liquid flesh to create sinews and muscle tissue over synthetic organs to then blast with UV to force skin growth, from the process as it is in vanilla they are more or less farm grown cyborgs.
I assume that you MUST win with the Boogeymen in order for this mod to work? (After winning with the Minutemen, I randomly decided to massacre the Railroad for no reason, and now I really miss hanging out with Deacon.)
I can think of a better in-universe justification for this mod. If you've read Orwell's "1984", you may remember that the resistance against The Party was, in reality, controlled opposition, making it easier to gather all of the state's enemies into one place so they could be wiped out efficiently. I could see the Directorate clandestinely re-establishing the Railroad to attract dissidents so that they can be more easily monitored, and if need be, eliminated.
After destroying the Brotherhood, the SRB would propose this plan to you and synth duplicates of the Railroad HQ staff will be reintroduced to the Commonwealth (along with a reprogrammed PAM). Talking to synth-Desdemona would give you quests to eliminate Railroad informants, while reprogrammed-PAM would send you after escaped synths to reclaim them (the idea being that the fake Railroad sent them off to "safehouses" where they'd be more easily retrieved, though the safehouse personnel would be completely in the dark about this, requiring them to be persuaded to stand down or killed).
Did you turn in the quest to Father and complete it? Finishing the Quest is a prerequisite for the recipes to appear, but not for the blood. So if you, for example, tried it immediately at Railroad HQ's chemistry workbench it won't work.
When I saw this, the first thing I thought about was "The Paarthurnax Dilemma" by Arthmoor. (I'm pretty sure it was him, I may be wrong) The one thing that I hated about Skyrim, was being forced to kill perhaps the greatest character ever created by Bethesda! My solution, albeit not very practical, was to ignore the Blades' from the moment I got the order to kill him. When the above mod was released, I was thrilled; particularly due to the simplistic solution of said dilemma. I actually would not have minded killing the Blades - well, her, anyway. I am currently in limbo in Fallout 4. Unfortunately, all the Railroad action that's left, are placing the spy-boxes for Tinker Tom, or repetitive tasks from PAMM. I wish I hadn't stuck with the Institute. Son, or not, Father is a douche - the Railroad is not I am aware that I'll have no choice in the matter, once I go back to the Institute. It's them or me. That is, unless you came up with a second way around the murders? I'm going to download this one, because I know you put a lot of thought into it - not to mention the scripting. Plus, your hearts in the right place. At some point, I'll run out of stuff to do and likely have no other options. What sucks is, the way Bethesda recycles all their creativity over and over. They've done it throughout Elder Scrolls, as well as Fallout.
Hi, glad you liked it :) Although I have to admit, I kill Paarthurnax every time... There is just something about going for the more severe options in such moral dilemmas and the way you feel afterwards - Like, as if you actually made a choice in this game that matters, and now feel its impact - that I'm a sucker for. I think while roleplaying, there is a lot more chance for character growth when deliberatley making decisions that feel wrong to you, so you kinda have to rationalize them to yourself and reflect about them. They don't necessarily need to be 'evil' choices, just different from what would come natural to yourself.
You know what they say: "If you can't beat 'em, murder them in cold blood while their guard's down, then proceed to create an endless supply of brainwashed clones out of their remains who will do your every bidding, even if it means betraying literally everything their former selfs might have stood for!" <3
this reminds me of tranquility lane, where people stopped even being people, just semi-sentient toys of the overseer . Now i imagine Oxhorn summing up the horrific-ness of this in his way of storytelling xD
To be completely honest with you, when doing my first Fallout 4 playthrough I basically tried playing as myself and ended up siding with the Institute. I had the Workshop Synth Fabrication mod installed, and immediately after I had to kill the Railroad - Which was the only decision I truly could not rationalize during the playthrough and genuinely felt bad about - had the idea to recreate them as synths. I immediately realized the irony. This is how the idea for this mod was born :)
And yeah, I'd love to hear what Oxhorn would have to say about it :D That being said, it'd probably take him more than 45 minutes getting to the point

You bad, bad person you. In the future, make sure to have appropriate moral justification before commiting heinous acts of manslaughter, will ya?

And thanks for the mod!

Mine is a message of forgiveness, really.
I'm just going to leave this here. :P
